When the Congress passes a law and the president signs it, that's the law. Period. He doesn't get to pick and choose which laws to follow. We are only as strong as we are united.

Since January 2025 the Department of Energy has terminated more than 300 projects worth over $9 Billion nationwide. The companies, nonprofits, state and local governments who enter into agreements with the federal government have always had full faith the United States would keep its word—until now.

My colleagues and I are about to markup the Republican majority’s Legislative Branch appropriations bill.   This bill is supposed to fund all operations in Congress, including oversight of the President and the Executive Branch. Instead of doing that, they want to destroy the nonpartisan Government #Accountability Office by cutting over 1,000 jobs critical to eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.

While Donald Trump is making toasts and funneling $1 billion towards a ballroom, everyday Americans are struggling to make their money stretch further between paychecks. America deserves better than these ballroom Republicans.

Last year, Congress provided the Trump administration with a trillion-dollar defense budget, the largest in our nation’s history. Yet this Pentagon is still failing to manage taxpayer money responsibly. Several of the Services have billion-dollar holes in their personnel accounts and the National Guard has been left short of funds due to increased domestic deployments. These costs must be paid for, along with the growing costs of President Trump’s unlawful and unauthorized war in Iran. Now, President Trump is asking the American people for a $1.5 trillion defense budget. That’s a 44% increase over last year, when he has already demonstrated that his administration is incapable of managing a trillion-dollar budget. I will not support a blank check for the Pentagon. The Trump administration’s budget request must be closely scrutinized. They have failed thus far to provide information to Congress to justify such an extraordinary budget request, and they have failed to provide a plan to pay for it in the long-term.

Trump’s HUD Secretary said Americans should get “equal rights, not extra rights.” We all know Trump and Turner think anti-discrimination laws give LGBTQ+ people “extra rights.” That’s why the Trump Administration wants to eliminate HOPWA, which provides #housing for people with HIV and AIDS.   HOPWA has had bipartisan support for 30 years, and it’s not going to stop now.

‼️BIG WIN. In a stunning bipartisan vote, my amendment to BLOCK federal agencies from BUYING PERSONAL DATA has passed. Once this measure is enshrined into law, agents will need a warrant or subpoena to get our private information. No more data broker loophole. We fought this fight and won. Thank you @RepZoeLofgren @RonWyden, who authored the standalone legislation on this issue. Together our efforts are working to ensure your data are safe, secure, and protected.
