Access to safe drinking water and reliable wastewater infrastructure should not depend on a community’s ZIP code. During the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations markup, I spoke in support of restoring funding for the U.S.-Mexico Border Water Infrastructure Program, a longstanding bipartisan program that helps border communities address critical water and wastewater needs. The program has helped fund more than 140 projects and continues to support communities that often lack the resources to finance major infrastructure improvements on their own. The need remains significant across the border region, and continued investment is essential to protecting public health, supporting economic development, and improving quality of life for families.
