Today, my family had the distinct honor of hosting The Right Reverend Wilson Kisekka, the 4th Bishop of the Luweero Diocese at our ancestral home in Nakafumu! It's remarkable to reflect on our journey together, having grown up in the same home in Kiwanga during the turbulent years of the 70s and 80s. At that time, we couldn’t have imagined that one day I would be welcoming him as a Bishop in a home that I head. The Bishop was in Busiika Parish on his pastoral visit, and our home was blessed to be one of the ten locations where he conducted services. Despite the challenges we faced in our childhood, we were fortunate to experience God's grace, which has guided us to positions of responsibility. During the service, the Bishop referenced 1 Samuel 7:12, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us,” a poignant reminder of the divine support we've received throughout our lives. This verse truly resonates with both of us, reaffirming how we must never forget God's help along our journey. In addition to his pastoral mission, the Bishop was also raising support for the ongoing construction of the Synod Hall and Diocesan Offices, which my friends and I generously contributed to! He was accompanied by the Archdeacon of Luteete, the Parish Priest of Busiika Parish, various priests, and lay readers, all united in our shared faith. This visit served as a beautiful reminder of the path God has laid out for us, from our upbringing together to our current roles in the community. It’s a blessing to reflect on how far we've come and the grace that has carried us through.

Early in our relationship, my wife used to come along during my inspections at construction sites! She says she was struck by the fact that the only women she encountered were either cleaning or serving food.  Deeply passionate about the dignity and advancement of women, she became concerned about the limited roles available to them. Years later, when she had the opportunity to secure funding for a project focused on uplifting young women, she recalled the women she had seen on my sites. She asked me, “Are there any women now working in more skilled positions, like masons or supervisors?” I sadly replied, “No, most are still either cooking or sweeping.” This conversation inspired her to take action. She created a project aimed at training young women for dignified jobs in construction. I connected her with my friend Dr. Kenneth Ssemwogerere, the founder of @SasaCollege and together they developed a program for vulnerable girls. Partnering with Mirembe Community College they identified vulnerable young women who for various reasons were facing challenges in life!  After just three months of training, the results have been incredible: 50 girls have completed courses in Decorative Bricklaying, with 85% now fully employed! This morning, my wife and I attended the graduation ceremony where the girls shared their inspiring testimonies, many with their proud parents and guardians by their side to receive their certificates. This program powerfully demonstrates that no one is born to fail. With the right support and opportunities, everyone is capable of earning a decent living and contributing positively to their community.

Today marks a significant milestone in Busiika, Luweero, as we celebrate the graduation of 50 young women from the Dignifying Jobs for Women in Construction program with a certificate in decorative masonry👷‍♀️ Over the last four months, these graduates have undergone practical training in bricklaying, block work, and basic blueprint reading among other skills to allow them access better-paying jobs in the industry. This initiative provides less privileged young women with skills that opens doors to economic independence in a traditionally male-dominated industry. A program by SASA College of Industrial Design in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and Digital Opportunity Trust. 🌐scid.ac.ug #SCID #WomenInConstruction

Ebenezer! This morning’s URA Thanksgiving fellowship has been one of reflection. I’ve urged the team to commence this term with the mentality of hard work and belief in a brighter future for Uganda! Nothing is insurmountable for believers standing on the firm foundation of faith.

When we look at the communications devices or ICT terminals that exist today (phones, radios, computers etc), can you imagine what their predecessors looked like or the user experience associated with these? Let us all continue to foster innovation for positive transformation
