Cardio Timing: Zone 2 is basically fine whenever That said, if you do enough of it before your workout…it can definitely negatively impact performance to some extent Thus… The MOST ideal time to do Zone 2 = totally separate from lifts The second most ideal time to do Zone 2 = after your lift The LEAST ideal time to do Zone 2 = prior to your lift Worth nothing that I’m talking about extended duration Zone 2 (30+ minutes) A 5-10 minute bout prior to resistance training could actually AID your training performance as it’ll serve as a great general warm up by elevating core temperature When it comes to Zone 3 - Zone 5 Cardio…you most definitely want to keep those sessions secluded from your workouts but sometimes doing a bout after lifting is FINE It’s very context dependent One thing is for certain though: If you are doing Zone 3 - Zone 5 Cardio just prior to resistance training…you are a FOOL

Yesterday I saw a post recommending Zone 2 cardio after your workout That’s exactly what I’ve done for years I also get at least 10k steps in before 8am before my workout because of work At the same time, I see people say you should do it before lifting while others insist it should be completely separate from your workout Thoughts? As long as you're doing it, does it really matter?

Human study: 300 mg enteric-coated lactoferrin for 8 weeks reduced visceral fat by 14.6 cm², waist by 4.4 cm, body weight by 1.5 kg, and BMI by 0.6 without diet or exercise changes A double-blind placebo-controlled Japanese human trial gave abdominally obese men and women 300 mg/day enteric-coated bovine lactoferrin for 8 weeks. Results vs placebo: Visceral fat area: -14.6 cm² vs -1.8 cm² placebo (P=0.0089) Total fat area: -28.0 cm² vs -11.7 cm² placebo Body weight: -1.5 kg vs +1.0 kg placebo BMI: -0.6 vs +0.3 placebo Waist circumference: -4.4 cm vs -0.9 cm placebo (P=0.073) Hip circumference: -2.6 cm vs -0.2 cm placebo No diet or exercise modifications were required during the study. No significant adverse effects were observed in liver enzymes, kidney markers, glucose, lipids, CRP, or insulin. Important detail: they used enteric-coated lactoferrin because regular lactoferrin is degraded by stomach pepsin before reaching the intestine. The paper discusses several possible mechanisms: - endotoxin/LPS neutralization - anti-adipogenic effects - improved insulin sensitivity - altered postprandial lipid transport - reduced visceral fat lipid uptake through LRP1-related pathways DOI: 10.1017/S0007114510002734
