@coach_kevin_m Agree it’s a decent tool in the toolbox but surely a scientist (especially employed at elite level) , will look at academic papers and evidence backed data. Maybe they used ChatGPT to find the papers and data sources 🤷‍♂️

@AreteMindset AI is a tool in the toolbox. If you are using it 100% without filter then that's a worry, but it can get you 80% of the way there. The remaining % requires critical thinking I just don't understand the comments from some people

Look at the comments. GPT = Generative content. Pre-trained on a MASSIVE dataset of text and code. Transformer/neural network architecture used to process language. One person or small team = limited by knowledge and experience People are not realising what is happening in front of their eyes and it is very worrying

Stop buying electrolyte drinks… there’s a simpler way. Most of the ones you’ll find in shops are packed with sugar, dyes, and unnecessary extras. But your body doesn’t need all of that to stay hydrated. In reality, proper hydration comes down to a few simple things: • water • a pinch of natural salt • a little glucose • and a touch of potassium Here’s a simple way to make your own at home: 1 quart filtered water ½ tsp sea salt 1–2 tsp honey (or sugar) juice of ½ a lemon The salt helps your body hold onto fluids. The glucose supports absorption. And the lemon adds a small boost of potassium + flavour. Simple. Natural. Effective.

The @Telegraph article "The blood sugar spikes damaging your brain and how to avoid them" presents five swaps - advice from nutritionist Eva Humphries... Every image completely misses the point. If blood sugar is damaging your brain - cut carbs - don't swap them! 🙄

Pre-game huddles… Here is Chelsea’s (now infamous) huddle before a game this weekend against Everton. They eventually went onto lose 3-0. This is not a short post about Chelsea or their huddle. I’m not interested in idle gossip or unethical assumptions. What I’d like to say is this… Huddles can be a useful platform for team leaders to issue final instructions in their own words. It can also be a useful opportunity to reinforce a shared language that’s been normalised in training, across the organisation, throughout the season. Huddles are teamwork-in-action because they are communication-in-action. They embody a physical and psychological cohesiveness that coaches want players to mirror throughout the game. Why not just do this in the changing room prior to play? Well, many teams do. And they add this final process of togetherness just before kick-off. Is every player going to be on board and see this moment as useful to their game? Probably not, and that should be seen as something that’s ok (or as a coaching challenge to strip away skepticism and enhance belief in its value). Belief in the huddle… Key is selling it’s value. To sell its value, it’s important to make leadership, teamwork, and mindset three big deals in your coaching culture and coaching practice. Otherwise a huddle can feel redundant. Huddles are for leadership, teamwork, and mindset. They exist to reinforce the shared language and shared behaviours not only around the game plan but around High Performance Mindsets. Teams don’t lose because they huddle, but nor do they win because they huddle. A huddle, when worked on and utilised correctly is a performance tool that can be a small but important difference maker… 𝐌𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤. From Stephen Curry to Simone Biles… here are the 12 key mindsets of the world’s top athletes: 1) They never get bored with the basics. They work towards mastery of the fundamentals… during the Unseen Hours… every single day. 2) They earn their confidence through repetition. They know that repetition is not punishment but rather the most proven form of learning and skill acquisition of all time. 3) They remain humble. No matter good they are… they can always get better. This allows them to stay open to coaching and willing to accept feedback. 4) They have a clear vision of what they want to achieve. However, despite being goal driven, they focus heavily on the process. They spend minimal time wishing, wanting, and hoping. Instead, they work to develop the daily habits, behaviors, routines, and micro-skills needed to progressively inch toward their goal. 5) They make their preparation their separation. They maximize the Unseen Hours – the time behind the curtain when the lights are off and the arenas are empty. They understand that ‘To have it when you need it most you must practice it when you need it least.’ 6) They don’t fear mistakes – they embrace them! They understand that mistakes are part of the growth process. They acknowledge that ‘Success comes from good decisions. Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions.’ 7) They control the controllables. They put their focus, energy, and attention into their own effort and attitude – and they let everything else go. They don’t allow the environment or circumstances to dictate how they show up. 8) They quickly move to the Next Play. When things don’t go their way, when they make a mistake, or when life is less than preferred… they quickly wipe the slate clean and move on! 9) They make those around them better. They lead by example, hold those they care about accountable, and live by the mantra that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. 10) They are relentlessly consistent and consistently relentless. They uphold a high standard of excellence even when they don’t feel like, when they don’t want to, or when it’s not convenient. 11) They have an attitude of extreme ownership. They take full responsibility for everything in their life. They don’t blame, complain, or make excuses. 12) They embrace pressure. They feel stress and pressure just like everyone else, they simply manage it more effectively be viewing it as a privilege. Well, there it is. A blueprint for performing at your best. And you don’t need to be Stephen Curry or Simone Biles to live these 12 mindsets – they are readily available and accessible to you right now. But don’t be tricked by their simplicity. Each of these mindsets is basic in premise, but very challenging to execute consistently. Remember, just because something is basic… it doesn’t mean that it’s easy!

Subjective feedback sounds like this: “Work harder.” “Be sharper.” “You need to want it more.” It feels meaningful in the moment. But here’s the problem, it’s completely unactionable. What does “work harder” actually mean? What should the player do differently in the next 5 seconds?

“Work harder.” “Be more switched on.” “You need to do better.” Coaches say this all the time. Players hear it all the time. And yet… nothing changes. Here’s why and what to say instead🧵
