Progressive journalist David Roberts says: “It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Bluesky has been a net negative for US politics. They corralled everyone on the left into a little glass fishbowl where they shout at one another & everyone else ignores them. Meanwhile, all the pols & institutions stayed on X & are being dragged farther right.”

@AgingAnarchist It may be just your specific circle of exposure. I’m almost 50 and most people in my social circle growing up did shoes off in the house.

ここ数年、アメリカでも靴を脱ぐ家が増えて、かなり一般的になりました。理由は家の中が汚れるから。気づくの遅い。

@dalepartridge Most girls would rather stand with a friend than sit separately. It’s absurdly dumb to think it’s even about race if one female friend doesn’t leave another female friend alone on the bus to go sit with a male stranger. That wouldn’t be normal behavior.

Black guy: Why won’t these white women sit next to me? Sane White women: - Iryna - Laken Riley and 100+ more names - 4% commit 60% of murders - 50% of murders in 2% of counties - Rap music

I keep seeing people judge this mom, but let's use our brains for 5 seconds. They're at Sam's. This constitutes max 2 hours out of their week, maybe even the entire month. She's clothes shopping. This is not their daily routine. The most alarming part of this video is actually that a stranger filmed a young child without the parent's knowledge and posted it online.

@elkelk Things feel different to different people.🤷🏻‍♀️ It feels like a perk to me to get on and avoid the crowds outside the gate. I do wander off and sit somewhere kind of empty- but at boarding time you have to be there in all that chaos, muffled announcements and poorly queued lines.

Never understood why boarding a flight early is a “perk” Great, I get to sit for an extra 22 minutes in an uncomfortable seat while we don’t move

@hashjenni It’s a choice they made. My grandparents didn’t just assimilate, they changed their names, language, and culture. They sacrificed almost everything they knew to become American and that’s a painful process. Hyphenated labels are people who have opted to keep both cultures.

Why are people described as “African American,” “Mexican American,” “Indian American,” “Asian American,” or “Native American,” while white Americans are just called “American”????

@LilithBlack25 Everything is about class. “Have nots” entitle the “haves” to more. I’m white, but I’m a Slav. We were used as slaves so long we are where the name came from. My family is buried in Pilsen in Chicago because we were redlined to ethnic ghettos. It’s the nature of power.

I don't buy that the hate against Black people is only about their skin color. There has to be something bigger behind it because no society would set up all its power, laws, and culture just to hold people down over a simple difference in skin shade

@Emilysk1a @ToddRobinson314 @ajcrute @Strangeland_Elf America is the land of plenty. We have plenty of junk food, plenty of sugar, but also plenty of healthy food. Most things are a choice here, and the choice to eat a lot of sugar is closely tied to class- so we consider it a little taboo and classist to mock.

@weejoy @MericaCulture It’s meat and cream… only a tbsp or two of flour for the roux. Is French roux depression era food too, or is your classism showing?

@westsidemanii Theron absolutely has class privilege. The OP never said white privilege. Also, that’s just the thing they say now. Instead of handing their kids a trust, they invest the same money in their business ventures and connect them to their network so they “made it on their own.” 🙄

@Shammy_Research @MichaelAArouet You guys talk like this is how Europe has always been structured but it isn’t at all. Feeling rich and having the money to sustain it are two different things. Like it or not, creating wealth is what will help Europe keep its shiny new social structure. Which I think IS great.

@Shammy_Research @MichaelAArouet That’s all new. Many of our American ancestors had to leave your countries because you didn’t let everyone EAT. You should realize you are all running an experiment too- an experiment of high social investment, low military investment. It may not be as perfect as you think.

This is eye-opening. A fast food job in the US pays significantly more than AI developer jobs in France or Germany, which have higher salaries than most other European countries. Europeans simply don’t notice how poor they become compared to others. Choices have consequences.

@PixieCav @EricLDaugh You also don’t own us through debt. You bought a Treasury bond. In return, you get regular interest payments and your principal back at maturity. You take losses when you dump before maturity. It’s financial investment, not owneship. We domestics own 75% of our Treasury Bonds.

@PixieCav @EricLDaugh That’s mutually assured damage because a coordinated dump would: 1. Drive treasury prices down and yield capital losses. 2. Increase the Euro, which would hurt exports. 3. Cause higher global borrowing costs that would spill back into Europe. And then we’d get another buyer…

🚨 JUST IN: Sec. Marco Rubio TRUTH NUKES useless NATO allies while in Italy "If one of the main reasons the US is in NATO is the ability to have forces deployed in Europe that we could project to other contingencies, now that's NO LONGER THE CASE?" 🔥 "At least when it comes to some NATO members?" "That's a PROBLEM and has to be examined. But ultimately that's a decision for the president to make." "In Europe, some countries in Europe, like Spain as an example, denied us the use of those bases for a very important contingency, that in some ways the denial of those bases actually impeded the mission, not severely, but had a cost and in fact even created some unnecessary dangers." NATO DOES NOTHING!

A young black woman just sped up and attempted to mow down my wife @MartinaMarkota and child in a Hudson, NY parking lot. I heard the tyres screech as she sped up and saw my wife lurching backwards holding my toddler. She hit my wife’s hip and sped off (we are safe). I have the licence plate and witnesses (who described her speeding up rapidly as my wife was stepping to cross the road), but Colombia County police told me they won’t do anything because, instead of calling 911, I chose to drive to the (very) nearby police station. Their excuse: “you may have the license plate but we don’t know where the car is now.” Well, it sped off - of course they don’t know. If my wife and child were killed by this woman, would they still refuse to investigate because they “don’t know where the car is now?” I attempted to stop her and ran in front of her vehicle - she stared at me blankly and sped up and left. Thank God we are safe. Thank God. But I have zero faith in the police, and let’s be honest, this story would be different if a white woman attempted to mow down a black woman and her child. They’d riot. I know this post achieves nothing but I want this on the record. I am praying this woman doesn’t hurt anybody else. @nyspolice is it protocol to tell victims of these crimes they are wrong not to have called 911 and instead attend a police station in person? To say there is nothing you can or will do?
