Had a great time chatting with @romainhuet about computer use in Codex!

Today, we are excited to introduce Codex for Chrome! Now, Codex can drive its own Chrome tabs in the background to automate tasks while you use the browser simultaneously. It does this by opening up tab groups for each task, cleaning up at the end, and handing back tabs for review only as needed. Try it for deep research inside logged-in websites, large scale data transfer into any systems of record like CRMs/CMSs, and automating repetitive workflows inside admin consoles & internal tools. Codex will still prefer dedicated plugins if you have them installed, but the Chrome plugin is the universal connector that glues end to end workflows where programmatic coverage is often incomplete. We are making this available on both Windows and Mac today! Let us know what you think.

@AriX Do you ever get reports of computer use issues from users who use multiple Desktop Spaces? Haven’t taken the time to pin down specific issues but it’s definitely less reliable when I’m working across different spaces

We did some serious performance work and Codex Computer Use is *ripping*. I measured: 42% faster in 5.3-Spark and 16% faster in 5.5.

@ProEvilz I would encourage you to grab a timer, test them side-by-side, and validate that theory!

@mattcassinelli Hmm that’s not good, what reasoning level are you at?

I don’t know if it’s just my computer but operations are taking 30-60 seconds just to check what’s happening on-screen. I’ve spent 2 hours and it’s only been able to try the operation 10 times. It’s constantly reasoning.
