I’m excited to announce my new role as President and CEO of Alex Metals. Those who know me know I embrace challenge, growth, and opportunity, and I’m sure this role will be those things many times over. Alex Metals was created with the sole objective of discovering a new, world class, precious metals-rich VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) deposit in southeast Alaska. We are so focused on this area that we named the company after it: the rocks of the Alaskan Panhandle are called the Alexander Terrane and we are Alex Metals. We’re focused on this terrane because it is home to the richest Besshi-style VMS in the world, Greens Creek, and one of the largest, Windy Craggy, but has seen surprisingly little exploration. I think it’s because Canadian companies have long preferred the BC side of the border, for its Canadian dollar costs and flow-through funding eligibility. We have three projects with known metal-rich VMS mineralization in limited historic holes, or small historic mines, or sticking out of creek beds. There are good reasons to see scale potential at each project. None of the projects have seen any version of systematic, let alone modern, work. And we have the technical team to do this, including a VP Exploration (Nathan Steeves) who did his PhD on Greens Creek and has run exploration programs in coastal Alaska for 15 years and a Chairman (Darwin Green) who has focused much of his career on this pursuit in this area, with notable success. All three projects also have the rest of the characteristics you want when pursuing a discovery: not one but multiple targets, spread through rocks known to host metal-rich VMS deposits, in a place open to exploration and welcoming to resource-based industries. We will drill three targets at each of two projects this summer, while also advancing the third project to drill readiness and completing an extensive assessment of regional opportunities. We are not only permitted for these drill programs, we have a drill contractor signed. Alex is private at the moment. I’ll be taking the company public over the coming months. Canadian “peso” poised to outperform while it remains one of the most heavily shorted currencies in the world today.
