@CoachSwit If you are going to do travel ball, then don't be afraid to play the best competition. Too many teams are looking for trophies.

@CoachSwit I don't think AA travel ball is very helpful, but the top teams are constantly playing the best kids in America. Several years ago, the two local 11u Major teams in my area had 6 future pros(3 mlb). Both teams had about .500 records because they played the top teams in the US.

What if nobody played travel ball until after Little League at 13? Less burnout? Fewer arm injuries? Or does it slow development? Not for everyone—but maybe it works for some. Thinking outside the box. What do you think? I think I know the answer for most.

@MattSakR2NG Let's not overreact, it definitely wouldn't be hard to find someone with a better coaching resume than what Pope had when UK hired him.

The list of names that are going to come out that turned down UNC are insane Needless to say, we should all hope Pope figures it out

@MattSakR2NG It seems to be presented in such a way that it's making excuses for the current recruiting failures. Maybe Kentucky just hired a bad recruiter? I don't condone bad fan behavior, but the worst thing UK can do is lower standards. The fans made UK great to begin with.

@ArmAction101 No one is blaming fans for results. We can hold some of them accountable for their actions when necessary tho.

BBN demands that Kentucky Basketball be the standard when it comes to everything (and rightfully so) Yet when it comes to abusive fans, we go to the same “it happens everywhere” and “we just have more fans” excuses everytime There’s nothing wrong with calling it out
Matt Jones@KySportsRadio

And go read what Hunter Dickinson and Cayden Boozer has publicly said in the last three weeks about Kansas and Duke It’s ALL FANS in the social media era. But for some reasons UK admin/coaches seem to want to cast blame on their own which I don’t get and is a losing strategy

@shegone03 @MLB I know they don't want injuries, but it would at least be respectable if they at least tried to actually pitch. You know most of those guys were the top two or three pitchers for their teams growing up, so they could at least look competitive out there.

I can’t stand this shit! Obviously there aren’t enough pitchers! I get it! I don’t agree with ever giving up but I get it! I think about all the guys I played with and against who were so close but never got their shot in the @MLB and I know what it would have meant to them! #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @iamrags @low_and_outside @hittingguru7 @CRAIG_LAPINER @TheRealJHair @VandyonTigers @DMEASrecruiting @SalMarinello @AMBS_Kernan

@BigBlueBud Not sure how you could possibly think it's "worked out fine". Pope has been a major disappointment so far. Hope he gets it together in years 3, but his seat is going to be red hot if next season isn't a huge improvement.

I have to say, I might be just a wee bit sick if UNC lands Billy D., especially after we knew he was interested in the Kentucky job last time around. It’s all worked out fine… but if he’s successful there yeah it’ll sting.

@Adam00xx This 108 stuff needs to stop. Ryan was great and is a legend, so there is no need to exaggerate his fastball. He absolutely didn't throw 108mph. Did not happen!

@DEvanAltman Awesome. I worked with a kid that was cut from an 8u team. He worked his butt off and ended up playing college baseball. I admire that level of determination.

Very proud of this kid. He could have given up after being cut last year, but he worked harder and forced the coaches to make a different decision this time. Still more to prove, but looking forward to seeing him do it.

@DevineGospel Counterpoint...I still hear from guys who played D1 to even MLB, and they still talk about how much fun they had playing travel baseball. Those teams were like a family. Spent most weekends and vacations together. Super competitive, but they had the time of their life.

@ZorTrades @CoachSwit This is true. Most people don't understand how much better the elite travel teams are than rec team or even local travel teams. As someone who has seen many players go on to college and pro, I am a huge believer in playing the best competition available.

@CoachSwit The issue is that sometimes the difference in talent is too wide. And if you have a kid who is better than all the rec kids by far, then he needs to go somewhere for better competition.

Travel baseball has turned into: Pay tons of money to play. Pay to travel. Pay to stay. Pay to watch your own kid. And somehow… this became normal. Will it ever change or just get worse?

@108_Performance They are all from the era that were taught to swing down. The era before them thought "level". The current era think "up". Yet, the best swings from every era are basically the same. Whatever works for the hitter is fine, but it's mostly years of trial and error.

@nolanuky27 I haven't even considered that, but that seems like something UK basketball would do at this point. Absolutely a nightmare situation. Nothing against Pelphrey, we just need to get away from highering former players for awhile.

I am kinda irrationally terrified that John Pelphrey is about to be hired as the GM. I have no reason to believe that, but it keeps crossing my mind as a real Mitch or Pope hire to keep in the spirit of 90s nostalgia. Please don’t do that.

@SethDavisHoops Definitely not Kentucky's "two best players". There were concerns about Lowe as the starting point guard going into the season, and there was never any guarantee that JQ was ever going to be available after a major injury. Just a terrible job by the Kentucky staff.

People like to dunk on Kentucky's $22 million roster, and for good reason. But let's remember this team's two best players basically never played. The only time they were on the court together was when they came back to beat St. John's. Hard to overcome!
