Let me tell you all a short history. In 1999, after Nigeria had just returned to democracy, the Ijaws were moving mad, just like the Fulani and ibos are currently doing. They were terrorizing Yoruba riverine villages, claiming they own all coastal areas of Nigeria. Then in October 1999, the war started. It was called the “Ajegunle War.” Omo, the war was bloody, and the Ijaws will never forget what the OPC made them witness during that short war. Some people estimated that over 80 people were killed around that time. Since then, the Ijaws have understood what boundaries mean and they have stopped moving mad to the Yoruba people.
