Pep threw a spanner into the works. He changed tactics both in AND out of possession. No doubt Lijnders had a big say in the defensive approach which stifled Arsenal's build-up. Arsenal failed to adapt in both moments. It's a masterclass from Guardiola and his staff. No doubt.

Clip ball to the FBs or higher wide area and then we fight for the second ball. Picking Kepa hamstrung us.

@GeorgeV_AFC George, is it possible that this entire result came down to the decision to play Kepa? Outside the mistake for the goal, Kepa playing is what made Pep’s 424 work because Kepa can’t distribute like Raya. The clip ball to the FBs or higher up wide areas was always on.

Gutted doesn’t cover it- had a bad feeling about the game. I’m looking at the way we approach one off knockout games & I can’t help but feel the aggression we show in our OOP is more passive. Never make big decisions after a tough loss but there’s a pattern there imo

Credit to Pep & his coaching staff for the win over Arsenal too. The tactic of blocking passing lanes from the back into midfield with that four-man attacking line had Arsenal completely baffled. Other teams would be wise to copy it. Arsenal play with four CBs, make them have the ball, don’t let them pop it into Rice & Zubimendi.

That is unfortunately the inevitable backlash you invite upon yourself when you drop points in such a manner. While constructive criticism is fully warranted, most of what is being said is just low IQ people with long held agendas pouncing on a perfect opportunity to paint whatever narrative they like. I don’t want to stick the knife in just yet because the ingredients are still there to succeed, and if we do l don’t want to reflect and see that I whinged the whole way to the finish line. Confidence and optimism is low but gotta back them till the end regardless.
