$JNPR breakout of recent consolidation, decent volume esp for this pre holiday weekend. What's up? Settlement talks? Why buy in front of a trial date? S/t options moving w 21 days left to ex? Not a whisper I can find...speculation? Early happy 4th to those that celebrate...

The DOJ "will place greater emphasis on negotiation than the Biden administration, seeking asset sales and other measures for companies to complete deals rather than going to court" Directionally positive for M&A. Hopefully they can settle with $JNPR / $HPE. Disclosure: Long

@liensofnewyork Anyone thinking this is real clearly has never heard of a “non compete” 🫠

By launching the tariffs on April 2nd, President @realDonaldTrump has enabled our trading partners to experience the visceral impact of the tariffs on their markets, companies, and citizens, and he has shown that he is prepared to do what is necessary to address unfair trading practices.
The result has been nations lining up to negotiate deals with the administration. So far so good.
By pausing reciprocal tariffs for 90 days and exempting certain goods from tariffs this weekend, he has also shown considerable flexibility in understanding the challenges to US companies in adapting to the tariffs overnight.
By leaving a 145% tariff on China for the last few days, he has sent a message to China about the consequences to China of retaliating rather than coming to the negotiating table.
The problem is that there remain millions of small and medium-size American businesses that suffer from an inability to adapt to the tariffs on China overnight.
If President Trump were to pause the China tariffs for 90 days and reduce them temporarily to 10%, he would achieve the same objective in causing US businesses to relocate their supply chains from China without the disruption and risk to these businesses in the short term, and he would have time to negotiate a deal with China.
China is under the same pressure to negotiate a deal whether the tariffs take effect immediately or if they take effect in 90 days.
The benefit of waiting 90 days is two fold. It gives all US businesses the opportunity to make supply chain adjustments, and it gives China the opportunity to show that it is willing to negotiate a trade deal in good faith.
If China does not cooperate and negotiate a deal that makes sense for our country, President Trump can bring the hammer down in 90 days.

#520 SELL (Short) $TGI @ $25.23. 10% NAV position. This thing was trading way too tight today! Long stop relatively short, huge premium etc.
English

@PersimmonTI It does not appear buying $SWTX on Friday and selling on Monday has been a good strategy. The opposite has done ok.
English

If I understood correctly, Merck would need to immediately report if these types of negotiations are halted (or no deal). It will indeed be interesting to see what Garijo states. She may just refuse saying anything, but if she states anything with more than one sentence, you can bet tutes are on keen ear.
English

$SWTX people keep talking about SP crashing, and that the whole of premium will be gone, if no news tomorrow. Why would it? Sure there’s a drop (possibly temporary to shake out some retail), but this ”earnings deadline” is just imaginery, something that investors have come up with. Deals worth billions do not care about the day of the week or earnings events, if there’s anything that needs to be still covered. We will hover over 40 until an outcome is given.

@stockassassin74 @sharkbiotech @Sanctuary_Bio @AaronRosenblum5 Would trade v tight there is no overlaps at all
English

@sharkbiotech @Sanctuary_Bio @AaronRosenblum5 If $swtx a tad over 70 still likely trades mid 60s due to arb spread no? So from bump in price from close Friday, maybe see $7ish price appreciation for months…

#531 BUY $TKWY @ EUR 19. I know this space quite well, antitrust risk should be low. 10% NAV position deployed.
English

@gr8t4ver @MergerArb99 People talking $75-85 deal price.
Spread will be 2% gross.
English

@MergerArb99 How much is priced in? Known rumor for awhile, what's the upside at this point? Might be a sell the rumor situation $swtx
English

#525 BUY $SWTX @ $53.9. Initiated 2% NAV position in this promising pre event situation. If announced expect this to trade very tight!
English

#530 added another 1% NAV in $SWTX @ $60.31. And that’s it for now.
English

#528 looks like $SWTX conference call got cancelled. Loading up some more now in pre-market
English

@SusUser1 @MergerArb99 I think its a bit different because this was during private negos, not yet reco’d deal?
English

#526 SELL (Short) $AZPN @ $267.8….15% NAV position. That was easy intra-day money! Elliott is staying put..Emerson is best and final….not same thing as U.K. best and final but these guys not bumping to make Elliott money that’s for sure!
English

#522 BUY $LTG LN @ 90p. 5% NAV position. U.K. Scheme that trades very wide due to SH Vote risk which I think its unwarranted. I think either one or both of the shareholders complaining about the price will fold or attendance will be high enough where their votes don’t matter
