Eurosatory has about the worst parking signage I have seen so far with all the security people just sending you back onto the highway. Now stuck in traffic on the highway again.....

A must read (or must listen): Europe2031.ai . A dystopian but unfortunately surprising convincing of what could happen if Europe does not catch up on AI. It moved my prior. (and it is, despite the gloomy conclusions) a fun read.

Dude forget that in a specific context, words matter. That “German A400M” video came literally one day after Airbus DS proudly announced a supposedly “European” consortium made up exclusively of 6 🇩🇪 companies to replace FCAS. Bonus: it wasn’t a Paki J-10 that shot down a Rafale. We don’t know what happened; Pakistani air defences saturating with PL15s are more as likely an explanation (eg RUSI report)
LazyProtato@Lzypr

French aviation Twitter is genuinely absurd at his point man. Mfs are outraged over this tweet making up schizo theories of Airbus claiming the entire A400M program is German, while they simply called a German Air Force A400M "German". That's it. /1

@Oitajpn I do, you’re just unable to understand that ILA Berlin was happening and distinct from the current debate. Airbus will also do the same for Eurostatory, no German will cry about it.

@Oitajpn Vous avez d’ailleurs fait de meme… Et ce consortium sera a jamais plus Européen que le non-effort Français pour construire et soutenir une “Europe de la défense”. Vous ne pensez qu’à vous, incapable de travailler avec les autres.

@Oitajpn Once again seemingly blinded by hate and rent free. It is in fact just an A400M with a German flag, in Germany, at the ILA Berlin, so yes, it is a German A400M, don’t get mad. And yes they did mention Spanish companies in that consortium, with other partners joining.

@Truthful_ast +++ Mocking the M1 Abrams as old and dino-like, while the Leclerc is painful to maintain and field - low availability. Mocking the F35 at many occasions while not being able to field anything similar. Mocking US way of life and risk taking while being stuck in the old world...

@Truthful_ast The French have kept their Napoleonic insolence without anything to back it up. French general on CSAR mission in Iran: It's impossible - stop snorting cocaine between meetings French mocking UAVs (MQ-1 and MQ-9) as gimmicky then buying them - same for EMALS on carriers +++

@DanielJHannan It builds pressure and feeds itself on each new catastrophe. You can't put the genie back in the box once people have been bestowed with this new reality. It's inevitable, but so is the surge in opposite reaction - delusion. May the better win.

@CasualArtyFan Tbh I expect much more of this to come, but on the ground. We've seen last mile frontline issues in Ukraine, and how UGV might help in that regard. We're definitely seeing an acceleration and interest in the industry if we look at hirings and ongoing projects. Exciting!

Today marks the start of my final week as a Naval Officer. Twenty three years. Countless memories. Incredible experiences. Extraordinary people. Looking back, a few lessons stand out. Preparation is currency. Study, learn, and understand things at their foundation. The deeper your understanding, the better your decisions when challenges arise. Never assume something is right simply because it’s always been done that way. Challenge the status quo when necessary, but remember: the burden of proof rests with those proposing change, not the institution they’re seeking to change. Trust, but verify. Delegate responsibility, but never accountability. Accountability belongs to the person responsible for the outcome. That’s leadership. And leadership isn’t a buzzword or a title, it’s a way of life. We often mistake confidence, volume, and bravado for leadership, but real leadership is usually quieter. It’s checking on a struggling shipmate. Helping without seeking credit. Doing the right thing when no one is watching. Most of all, I’ve learned that none of us succeeds alone. Every success I’ve had over the past twenty years was made possible by the sailors, mentors, chiefs, officers, friends, and family who supported me along the way. To the current and next generation of submariners: take care of each other. Never forget why we do what we do. We are the silent service, guardians of a mission larger than ourselves. We operate in the depths so others can live in the light. It’s been one hell of a ride, and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. Capt. Hubie is out.

AeroTime@AviationNews

Germany and France have abandoned the joint fighter at the heart of FCAS after years of Airbus-Dassault deadlock. The wider system, including drones and the combat cloud, may still survive. Full story here: ow.ly/tGV750Z8TRT

@mr_james_c A race that might end up soon. Tesla’s margin and DNA isnt focused on build quality. Germany has done the mistake once, but it is waking up, we can already see 900km+ ranges on EQS and software trailing just behind. Autonomous driving is going to be the next battle.
