🇰🇷 On the margins of #CSW70, The Republic of Korea co-hosted a side event on AI & women's and girls’ access to justice with the UN Working Group on discrimination against women and girls, co-sponsored by 🇪🇺EU & 🇪🇪Estonia. 200+ participants joined the discussion on how AI — if left ungoverned — risks amplifying discrimination against women and girls. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Jihoon Cha stressed that international standards on AI must fully incorporate transparency, non-discrimination, accountability, and gender-responsiveness to strengthen women's access to justice in the age of AI. 🇰🇷 In his General Discussion statement at #CSW70, Ambassador Jihoon Cha of the Republic of Korea reaffirmed that access to justice is not merely a legal imperative — it is a prerequisite for a society where no one is left behind. Ambassador Cha highlighted three priorities: - A strengthened legal framework under the Framework Act on Gender Equality, with integrated one-stop services for survivors of gender-based violence - AI-powered Digital Sexual Crime Response Centers detecting and removing harmful content in real time - Expanding women's representation across the justice sector Ambassador Cha welcomed the adoption of the #CSW70 Agreed Conclusions and affirmed ROK’s full support for their substance as a meaningful framework for national action and international cooperation. #GenderEquality #AccessToJustice #WomenAndGirls

’Courage’ means 'full of heart'. Central African Republic (CAR) has both courage and heart in striking ways and we are overwhelmed by the warm welcome. Three days into our #UNFPA and #KOICA M&E mission from Ehwa University in the Central African Republic (CAR), the dedication on the ground offers a powerful narrative for the future of our programming. I was deeply moved after meeting with the dedicated & wonderful colleagues and partners, the people whose lives have been radically touched by the work, and supportive government counterparts. Strikingly, DG Planning Franklin-Melnick DACKPA shared he was inspired by the RO hashtag #Korea's development trajectory from recipient to donor, and wished to live to see CAR one day would be a donor to others. What an uplifting aspiration! Yet, CAR already inspires others by the model represented, especially as stories are shared across all six partner countries in the hashtag #UNFPA-KOICA CFP partnership. Our partners as architects of global change, showing the way to transform fragility into resilience and peace building. This mission reinforces our commitment to the most vulnerable, and demonstrates why targeted, results-based investment is paramount: The true heroes, our implementing partners, operate in one of the world’s most challenging environments, where chronic donor defunding threatens the continuity of life-saving services. The urgency is clear: The KOICA-supported Conflict and Fragility Programme (CFP) is a high-impact model for translating the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus into tangible resilience.
