The Labour MP calling for cabinet to consider forcing Sir Keir Starmer out of No 10, Catherine West, has said Labour is in an "electoral emergency", and the leadership team needs to come forward "with a vision of how we can stop losing elections"

🔴 Catherine West may not be well known outside Westminster, but her name is causing Sir Keir Starmer a serious headache. The Labour MP said that she would attempt to trigger a leadership contest to force the Prime Minister to resign if no Cabinet ministers were to put themselves forward. The last thing the country wants is the Labour Party to talk about the Labour Party. The British public don’t want to hear about timelines, backroom deals and navel-gazing. Let’s get on with the job.

BREAKING: Reform declares that it has won Essex County Council with ***24*** seats left to declare This is particularly significant given that Kemi Badenoch's constituency is in Essex along with a significant tranche of her shadow Cabinet Essex has long been the Conservative Party's heartland. These results suggest that is no longer the case

The government’s refusal to take the tough decisions needed to reverse Brexit, with the galaxy-sized hole in GDP that caused and continues to cause, is also frankly making a rod for its own back. Hammering business is helping no one, least of all the poorest.

My largely unpopular view is that if Starmer had a chancellor who understood business, hadn’t shafted SMEs in her first budget in the most catastrophic & ignorant way, was a bit less ‘class war’ and didn’t think government ££££ creates economic dynamism, Labour would do better.
