This isn't how our government should work.

It’s 4/20, and we must legalize weed! We must immediately stop criminalizing people for using or possessing it, use the revenue to invest in our communities, ensure those harmed by the War on Drugs can benefit from legalization, and fully expunge past weed convictions. Let’s get it done for Wisconsin!

Another 4/20 passes without cannabis being fully legalized in Wisconsin. Many Wisconsinites continue to travel to Illinois to legally purchase cannabis products. The Republican-led Legislature has stalled efforts to move Wisconsin forward on legalization yet again.

At our last Milwaukee delegation meeting, we sat down with members of the Milwaukee Common Council at City Hall to talk about protecting immigrant communities, knowing your rights, and standing up to ICE. Important conversations like these and working together are how we keep our communities informed, safe, and empowered.

From yesterday’s special session; Legislative Democrats show up for Wisconsin, Legislative Republicans do not.

The difference could not be more clear.

Every veteran deserves to be honored with dignity and respect. This session, we made real progress with the Reimbursement for Military Funeral Honors bill. This law provides meaningful support to Veterans Service Organizations so they can continue delivering the solemn, dignified tributes our veterans have earned. Democrats helped secure an important addition to the bill that expands eligibility for military funeral honors to include our Hmong and Laotian allies who stood alongside U.S. forces.

This week, Governor Evers signed 23 of my bills into law! I was proud to introduce Assembly Bill 604, permitting prisons and jails throughout our state to receive Medicaid reimbursement for pre-release services for qualifying individuals nearing release. (1/3)

Protect Our Water 🌊 For over a year, my colleagues and I have been working to find a compromise to release over $100 million to address PFAS in our state. Today, @govevers put the pen to paper signing into law the bills that would do just that.

Proud to be part of the bill signing for Gail’s Law. This took years of organizing, advocacy, and courage to get across the finish line. Grateful to the late Gail Zeamer, her family, breast cancer survivors, and every advocate who fought for this moment. This law now ensures insurance covers diagnostic and supplemental breast exams for those at higher risk, including individuals with dense breast tissue. This is what progress looks like.

I am so proud to have stood with the many women and advocates who were relentless in their efforts to get this bill passed. Getting here wasn’t easy, but the fight was worth it.

I am thrilled that Gail’s Law was signed into law today. Women in our state deserve greater access to breast cancer screenings, and we have made real progress in that direction with this bill.

Today is a good day. Assembly Democrats have fought so hard to expand access to care for new moms and babies, and I was proud to join Governor Evers as the postpartum Medicaid expansion bill was signed into law!

Access to healthcare is essential, especially for women recovering from giving birth and caring for newborns. As someone who is about to become a mom, I am proud to have co-authored Postpartum Medicaid Expansion, fought for its passage, and voted for it on the Assembly floor.

Investing in kids and lowering property taxes are two of our top priorities. We can’t finish the session without making these needed investments. This is a responsible and common sense proposal and we should get it done.

When the state pays its fair share, property taxes stay down. It's that simple. I’m joining my colleagues in introducing a proposal to provide property tax relief while funding our public schools.
