@Michael_Zingale @scientific_py Then the question how would it work for the medium sized conferences that still follow the from 8-17 schedule with talks.
Maybe have parallel sessions with recording, and normalize the notion of the hallway track, just like at scipy?

@Michael_Zingale Scaling is the issue I suppose. The no talks (or only a very few), but small participant drive discussions work very well for 30-60 people (e.g. dotastro, or most recently the @scientific_py developer summit). And AAS is after all the same, too, not many attend it for the talks.

@KLM the care pack is OK but I could appreciate a change of clothes more than a comb&etc, after all I'll get home with almost a day delay. Your colleague said this to be taken care at the hotel. Had I known it's not, I would have picked up a pair of underwear&shirt at the airport

Regularly hearing sentences from scientists and bosses like "Tools are critical" is why I really like working at @NASA_IRSA / @caltechipac . And the nicest part is that it's not an empty statement you may hear elsewhere, I feel technical expertise and tasks are indeed valued here

@sarahkendrew @AlexNeedsSpace Even then, observers should be credited, especially in a data release paper. It's not like the actual authors writing this paper are doing it in a volunteer capacity, it's part of their job, they are paid to do research.

@AlexNeedsSpace I could understand if it’s your actual job to operate the instrument & you get paid for it, but sounds like this is different. Volunteering for these nights & not getting offered credit is bad - regardless of who is on the team.

To add to this, I collected ~50 of the RV points that went into this paper across ~20 nights of observing. Numbers are similar for many other ECRs I work with. I was not offered coauthorship and Geoffrey Marcy was. ⬇️

@lacalaca85 @b_konrad Azért személy szerint megnyugtató, hogy nem pazaroltam időt és energiát, hogy erre is és ne csak az ESA-s körre jelentkezzek. Már a kiírásban is voltak kérdéses részek amik egyértelművé tették, hogy felesleges próbálkozni.

@LorenaABarba @Michael_Zingale @SylvainCorlay Maybe rendered jupytebook html pages is a workaround? It's not interactive, yet not full of metadata either. Or if the issue is with the ipynb format, maybe myst flavoured md under the hood works better?

@Michael_Zingale @SylvainCorlay I believe the issue is that the notebook format includes a huge amount of stuff under the hood, setting cell parameters and syntax highlighting and whatnot, which results in gibberish when read in screen readers.
