Big update! I’m embarking on a new chapter as Manager, Information Technology and Software Enablement at Sensor Technology LTD! After a rewarding sabbatical of sorts as a technical founder, I’m so excited to step into this role. It combines high-level service leadership with deep technical execution. Sensor Technology has a fascinating 40-year history, but what really drew me in is their mission: to facilitate a safer planet for all living things. They build the "ears" of the underwater world - acoustic sensors that protect aquatic environments, support sustainable energy, and ensure maritime security. My mission? I'll be building a centralized IT and software enablement function from the ground up. I’m focused on establishing a disciplined support culture and maturing our internal software capabilities to ensure our technology ecosystem scales as fast as our global impact. I’m incredibly proud to join a Canadian success story that stays true to its family roots while leading the world in technical excellence. #NewChapter #ITLeadership #DigitalTransformation #SensorTechnology #TechEnablement

@vyrotek I'm debian all day. But for my daily dev driver omarchy is just perfect. No arch tax on install. Been super reliable for the most part. Gorgeous out of the box. It's not like it was when you had to roll your own installer. And hyprland is fantastic.

Do I need to explain myself? I need to explain myself. I flew into an incandescent rage because I have seen so many talented people be told "oh go make an OSS contribution to go get hired" and quite frankly that's shit advice. And as someone who runs a company, part of your JOB is to train people, at your company's expense. And I saw ~both of these things in the same tweet and I got really angry. I had to take a walk to process my feelings -- my shit tweets were because I didn't fully understand why I was angry. I stand by my anger.

holy shit who would ever want to work for a CTO with this kind of "i just want to exploit free labor" attitude
Glauber Costa@glcst

@OhNoNima I can give you one lesson. The lesson is: if your statement starts with "train me", you don't get Open Source. If that interests you then understand Open Source first, then revisit that statement

In an era when objective truth is a nice-to-have and the bar for politicians is in the depths of hell, it’s helpful to have someone like Rosemary Barton in the mix. For more than two decades, Barton, currently the CBC’s chief political correspondent, has chatted with, fact-checked and, when the occasion merits it, borderline interrogated the country’s most consequential public figures. Lately, thanks to some unusually exciting policy shifts under our refreshingly boring new prime minister, Canada’s newsmakers are commanding global headlines. But first, they’ll probably pop up on Rosemary Barton Live. And yet, as any journalist will attest, her job has never been harder. If politicians would prefer to sidestep tough inquiries, The Joe Rogan Experience and Call Her Daddy offer warmer, cushier landings. But as this country embarks on a 360-degree nation-building makeover, Canadians have more questions than ever. Barton is doing her best to get answers—no filler. macleans.ca/culture/rosema…

So the Carney Government is ending its avalanche control on Roger’s Pass, a key part of the Trans-Canada Highway with no plan? Do they expect a private contractor to show up with 105-millimetre howitzers? I know we only have a part time Minister of Transport- what is he thinking?

I was planning to use UUIDs to represent the databases we have on the @tursodatabase Cloud. I got a bit worried that we would perhaps run out of UUIDs. I just double-checked and I think we'll be fine for the next year or so. Will use UUIDs for now, and if needed, rearchitect later.

I actually can't use my macbook anymore. The dell xps arch linux laptop is genuinely that much better of an experience for me. I'm not even kidding. I just tried because I had some software on it that I needed. I'd just rather not. Wow. My macbook is now a server

Ghostty is leaving GitHub. I'm GitHub user 1299, joined Feb 2008. I've visited GitHub almost every single day for over 18 years. It's never been a question for me where I'd put my projects: always GitHub. I'm super sad to say this, but its time to go. mitchellh.com/writing/ghostt…
