CBSE’s Commitment to Fair, Transparent and Equitable Evaluation It has been observed that following the declaration of the CBSE Class XII results, several posts have appeared on social media regarding the assessment under the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, particularly in relation to marks obtained by students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The OSM system was introduced to enhance transparency, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation process by ensuring stepwise marking, which has long been a salient feature of the Board’s evaluation framework. The system aims to promote uniformity and objectivity in the assessment of answer scripts across subjects and across regions. Another key feature of the Board’s evaluation system has been the opportunity afforded for re-evaluation provided to students who may be dissatisfied with their results. This reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and equity. Accordingly, this opportunity will be made available this year as well. Students may apply for copies of their evaluated answer books, and in case any discrepancy is observed by them, they may request for corrective action. These processes are required to be undertaken through the mechanism prescribed by the Board. CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 has triggered serious concern among students, parents and teachers across India. In 2025, around 16.92 lakh students appeared. In 2026, that number increased to 17.68 lakh. Yet despite MORE students appearing: 📉 Pass percentage dropped from 88.39% to 85.20% 📉 90%+ scorers dropped from 1,11,544 to 94,028 📉 95%+ scorers dropped from 24,867 to just 17,113 This was also the first large-scale year of OSM (On-Screen Marking), where answer sheets were scanned and checked digitally. CBSE reportedly handled around 98.67 lakh answer sheets with nearly 70,000 evaluators. That means an average of around 141 copies per evaluator under strict timelines. Meanwhile, many teachers reportedly raised concerns regarding: ⚠️ blurred scans ⚠️ slow servers ⚠️ download issues ⚠️ evaluation pressure So students are asking a very valid question: If the evaluation system changed so drastically… and the result pattern also changed sharply… then why is there still no complete transparency? Students are NOT begging for free marks. Students worked hard for months, only to be failed by faulty servers and careless evaluation. CBSE owes them transparency and proper rechecking. This cannot be swept under the carpet. I’m worried and surprised that no one is talking about or taking action on this important matter.
