Base🔵 has generated more revenue than Optimism and Arbitrum combined the past 14 days. This is largely thanks to friend tech📈 But the degeneracy might just be getting started (friend tech on Aave??) An analysis of Base & friend tech👇 -------------------------------- Base🔵 Base is the layer 2 rollup developed by Coinbase which launched a few weeks ago. The chain is built with the OP-stack. A fraction of future revenue will therefore flow to the Optimism treasury. The ecosystem has had an explosive start. First with the $BALD memecoin which quickly gained a market cap of over $100m and then got rugged by the dev and now friend tech taking off. -------------------------------- Recent performance📊 Since Base went live July 29th👇 Fees📊 $3.4m - Base $2.6m - Arbitrum $2.5m - Optimism Revenue📊 $2.3m - Base $0.9m - Arbitrum $0.8m - Optimism Revenue is calculated as fees paid by users minus cost of posting call-data on Ethereum mainnet. Contracts deployed last week📊 11k - Base 2.6k - Arbitrum 1.1k - Optimism This is quite significant and shows just how much activity is happening on Base relative to the other rollups. -------------------------------- Friend tech @friendtech has taken crypto twitter by storm and keeps growing in adoption. Transactions in the past 24h📊 700k - Base 320k - friend tech Both hit new highs yesterday in terms of daily transactions. Impressively, Friend tech makes up roughly 50% of all transactions happening on Base currently. According to @DefiLlama, friend tech is the top revenue generating protocol in the past 24h ($709k) after Ethereum and Tron. All transactions on friend tech come with a 10% fee. 5% to the protocol and 5% to the creators. This therefore means that $709k also has been distributed to friend tech users in the past 24h alone🔥 How long can this go on? The airdrop campaign, which no doubt has attracted a large amount of users, will continue for the next 6 months. That alone should guarantee some sort of activity but not necessarily the same hype as we are experiencing currently. -------------------------------- The degeneracy might just be getting started In terms of Base🔵 overall, the ecosystem is going to expand over the coming weeks. @AaveAave will be arriving on Base this week and other projects like Aerodrome launching soon could attract significantly more users. Regarding at friend tech In the past day, non-crypto people have begun utilizing the dapp including Disclosure and people from the Faze Clan. The tech is still obviously lacking and this will make it more difficult to onboard non-crypto retail. Hoping the team is able to add new features/fix servers relatively fast. A final note: friend shares on Aave?👀 Probably not (right?!). I guess we might see later today. Anyways, overall extremely impressed by the explosive launch for Base and especially the growth of friend tech. Will be interesting to see if they can sustain this activity and succeed in onboarding non-crypto users.
