Today marks International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and when Conducive to Terrorism. Australia stands with the international community in addressing the key drivers of violent extremism. Our commitment to unity, respect, and security remains steadfast #PVEDay

Shocked and saddened by the horrific attack at a mosque in #Islamabad this afternoon. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected. Australia stands and mourns with Pakistan 🇵🇰 at this difficult time.

Australia supports the latest strikes by the US and partners against ISIS in Syria. ISIS is a radical, extremist organisation responsible for appalling violence, including in Australia. We must all keep working together to defeat ISIS and reject its dangerous, hateful ideology.

The Australian Government supports US-Nigerian cooperation on ISIS, including today’s strikes. ISIS terrorises people around the world. Its extremist, violent ideology must be stopped.

Australia supports the US strikes on ISIS in Syria. ISIS is a radical, extremist organisation which has caused immense suffering worldwide, including the ISIS-inspired antisemitic terror attack at Bondi last Sunday. We must all stand together to reject its violent ideology.

An attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on every Australian. There is no place for this vile antisemitism in Australia, or anywhere in the world. At the UN Security Council, we called for peace and partnership to eradicate all forms of racism, hatred, and intolerance.

Today marks 23 years since the 2002 Bali bombings – a terrorist attack that killed 202 people including 88 Australians and 38 Indonesians. We honour the victims, survivors, first responders and all those whose lives were changed forever by the attack.

On October 1, 2005, in the immediate aftermath of the Bali bombings, DFAT activated its crisis response — working with Indonesia and other Australian agencies to assist those affected. Many of those same officers continue to serve Australians in crises around the world today.
