Save some for the rest of us! Congrats to Ben Dean on his SECOND Bandon Dunes ace. His first was on Sheep Ranch No. 5 and his most recent on Pacific Dunes No. 14. Anyone else out there still hunting for that elusive first Bandon hole-in-one? ✋ #BestOfBandon 📸:@lizrosedean (IG)

@CPATaxTeam @GCAJoeA @Top100Rick @BryanTweed16 I had fun for whatever that’s worth! It was slow and the guys other guys around us were “bros” but that could just be bad luck. Thought the course was good. Need to go back and play it now that it’s more grown in and play the other courses too.

@GCAJoeA @AustinAllen07 @Top100Rick @BryanTweed16 I was expecting a Bandon type experience but with everything more natural. I'd play it again (in the morning) but there were just a few elephant humps that weren't natural land features that were gimmicky to me. I'm just not a Franz guy.

Cabot Citrus - Karoo 2024 Kyle Franz Public Resort - $400 “Karoo is too wild, the greens are too crazy”. I heard that so often going into my round at Karoo. I expected to be appalled by the insanity. A good reminder that you often just need to experience a golf course for yourself. Yes the course has some VERY bold features, but I found them fun and different, in a very good way. First, you need to forget Pine Barrens was here. That course was amazing and special, but it’s gone now. The Karoo should be judged for what it is and it is a truly unique place. It’s wide and sandy, with lots of elevation change. There is sand everywhere, good chance you won’t lose golf ball. The fairways offer real choices. Fairways are often bisected by sandy waste areas, which means choosing a path. It’s rare a golf course has so many decisions off the tee. Let’s talk greens. They are MASSIVE. Some of the biggest greens I’ve seen, having a 150 foot putt is likely. The contours are big, including a Biarritz inspired green that rivals North Berwick. But I didn’t find them unfair or overly crazy. What really made the course for me was the variety of play options. Angles really matter here and hitting good drives really mattered. So many wide courses claim strategy, Karoo actually pulls it off. Karoo is a win. My caddie said it’s 50/50 which course his customers prefer and I get it. Karoo and The Roost are both amazing fun, with 10 rounds I’d likely split them 50/50. The land differences are more than you’d expect, even if the general design principles are similar. Cabot Citrus is awesome.

Accounting firm app I'm thankful for: RightTool Why it's a no-brainer for anyone using QuickBooks 👇 It's free. It makes QBO better. It adds 146 features you wished QBO had. Two years ago I made a video about it. Here's what people said: Wow. Just wowww Ohhhh I need this thanks for sharing Can not, will not use QBO without RightTool!! Amazing. Its weird that these features aren't native to QBO! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED Met a guy in Los Angeles last week who said it changed his life, then that of his team. That's actually not a joke that's a thing an accountant said about a thing for QuickBooks. But if you're a happy RightTool user hit me with some finger goons 👆👉

As an Aggie fan I hate to have to root for the Longhorns this weekend. Hands Vandy the second SEC loss, doesn't cloud up the SEC tie breaker. Plus if Longhorns win out and Aggie wins out makes that final game more exciting. Not expecting it but would want Florida to win and not expecting SC to beat Ole Miss but be good for Aggie.

@jasononfirms Do you know if Stanford Tax implemented the workpaper markup tool and if it was well received? That was the only negative when we kicked tires on it in the spring.

This video would've saved my accounting firm firm 2 years and $100k+ 5 years ago I was running a 40 person firm, and we’d invested 14 months, and more time & money than I care to mention into changing practice management systems. The PM remains the most important tool in your firm. It’s the brain, the hub, the one tool that should do as many jobs as possible. But after burning 14 months + $100k in costs, and signing a 3 year contract we were 2 months into, we came to an unbelievably difficult decision: We’d chosen the wrong platform. And now we were going to have to change again 🫠 Robes were torn. Teeth gnashed beyond recognition. Staff had left! But we had to start over. Because the right answer? It wasn’t 𝒯𝒽𝑜𝓂𝓈𝑜𝓃 𝑅𝑒𝓊𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓈 𝒫𝓇𝒶𝒸𝓉𝒾𝒸𝑒 𝒞𝒮. We were a 25 year Lacerte firm, and we’d gotten the bold idea to switch to UltraTax. But wouldn’t you know it, they’ll practically give you Practice CS for free the first few years if you sign a contract. Plus, it’s the only PM that integrates with your tax software! Sound familiar? Here’s what I wish someone would’ve told me at the time: 💡 Don't make software decisions based on what your sales rep tells you Seems pretty obvious in hindsight, right? But it's still what most firms do. Let me propose an alternative: After working with almost 6,000 accounting firms in the last 2 years, I condensed everything I've heard into a single app recommendation database. (it's linked over in my bio if you want it) But here's the next trap: But pulling together your apps ad hoc, one-by-one can quickly create a MESS. That's why we made this video. To walk through how to build the perfect accounting firm tech stack from scratch, so you can finally have full confidence in how you're running your firm. PS. If there's a tool you're considering, drop me a note and I'm happy to share my unfiltered thoughts about it! I work for accountants, not software companies. PSS. If you recently switched tools or picked up a new one, let me know how it went! That's ultimately how these recommendations are created.
