While our country is at war, our airports are a mess, DHS is not funded, and our elections are not secure, Lindsey Graham is wandering around Disney World with a bubble wand. This is an image that should live in infamy.

This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽‍♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

We don't talk about this enough. The Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 3: "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof..." Senators were not suppose to be chosen by popular vote, but by state legislatures. This meant that the state legislatures mattered. The 17th amendment (1913) changed this, and the upshot is that even more attention was focused on national rather than state politics. It also means that those who are good at demagoguery and mass manipulation have fewer impediments. Welcome, tyranny. I'm not one of those idolators of the Constitution, but the original vision was smart—and the *reform* was really *deform*. What happens in the state capitols ought to be of at least as much interest to us as what happens in DC.

The Department of War announced the death of six Air Force Airmen who were supporting Operation Epic Fury and we can now report one of them is from Mooresville. Prayers to the family and friends of Capt. Seth R. Koval. His wife released the following Statement from the Koval Family: Our world was shattered two days ago. There is nothing that can prepare you to receive news that you’ve lost the love of your life. Our family will never be the same. As we figure out how to pick up the pieces and move forward, we are deeply grateful for the love and support we have received. That support, and the help of our Heavenly Father, will hold us together in these fragile moments as we face a reality without him. Seth was a man whose life I could never confine to a single statement and whose loss will echo in my heart forever. Seth was exceptional in everything he did. He was truly the most amazing husband, father, son, brother, friend, and Airman. He loved what he did, and he was proud to put his uniform on and serve others. He grew up dreaming about becoming a pilot and to stand beside him as he made his dreams come true was an honor. My husband was many things - loving, generous, kind-hearted, smart, devoted, a fixer of all things, a real outdoorsman, and selfless. The most important thing about my husband was that Jesus was his Lord and Savior. He always put others before himself – until the very end. I will see him in the smile of our son and carry him with me in every moment. I have overwhelming hope and peace because he is with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please help us honor Seth by respecting our wishes for privacy during this devastating time.

We have officially submitted our petitions to be on the ballot! This afternoon we turned in twice the number of signatures needed to qualify for the primary, with thousands of supporters signing from EVERY COUNTY across South Dakota. I could not be more grateful for your encouragement and support in this run for Governor!  We just wrapped up the legislative session and passed historic property tax relief for the first time in decades and the largest property tax cut ever. I led the fight to stop big tech tax subsidies and passed a new law to make sure your electric bills don’t go up because of massive data centers. Moments like this make it clear that our movement is strong and growing every time we hit the campaign trail. But June 2 will be here before we know it. We've focused on the scandals surrounding Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski and others, but career employees and political appointees (who are not Noem loyalists) have expressed deep disappointment over how much progress was lost and damage done. The public can see this from the outside, but the full extent is only known by those on the inside. In conversations this past week, there's been a sense of grieving for what should have been. The funeral of Father Pierre El-Rahi, Maronite parish priest of a Christian village, is celebrated today in #Lebanon, as these villages once again experience the tragedy of war. I am close to all the Lebanese people in this time of grave trial. Fr. Pierre was a true shepherd. As soon as he heard that parishioners had been wounded in a bombing, he rushed to help without hesitation. May the Lord grant that the blood he shed become a seed of peace for beloved Lebanon. #PrayTogether
