@AdamSinger I wouldn’t argue it’s all “normal” people. Rather, the roughly top 60% or so. Trust me, when you’re poor, you don’t get to set foot on an airplane.
English

Air travel is a modern marvel. You have unemployed, depressed people posting from their parents’ basements 'everything is broken' and 'the end is near' nebulously while back in reality, global infrastructure go brrrrr and normal people are enjoying their lives

July 23, 2026, was the busiest day for commercial air travel ever, according to data from @flightradar24. A whopping 153,359 commercial flights were tracked worldwide.

@TheRefusedSton1 @isaiahrmartin Midterms, sure. And probably 2028 too. But what of the bigger picture? When the left talks down to the right, it drives them deeper into their corner. We’re making polarization worse, not better. History is full of countries that paid dearly after failing to mend civil relations.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin I’m not a democrat but the right has been crying like a bunch of girls on their periods for the past couple years. Then they got in office and did absolutely nothing but ruin the country and now Democrats are gonna sweep the mid terms because of it.
English

@TheRefusedSton1 @isaiahrmartin It’s about “the feelings” of 49% of the country. They vote with their feelings. And they get more electoral college representatives than you do on average.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin Dude said the left hurt his feelings 😂😂
English

@Faith2CU @isaiahrmartin They definitely do. But Trump-supporters will usually have higher-prioritized concerns.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin Their concerns? So ⬆️costs don’t impact MAGA REPUBLICANS, SERIOUSLY?
English

@AustinScott_tw @AdrienEmber @isaiahrmartin I usually am. I start off with respect and it tumbles down to me being a leftist or still on the Democrat plantation. Most are waiting for right wing politics to stop with the extreme discrimination so we can have a healthy convo

@Bryan81690142 @isaiahrmartin I ask this genuinely: if not the two sides reach an armistice, what then is the path forward for our wounded nation?
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin I appreciate the optimism but IMO, the idea that there’s a world where we’re going to somehow come together with the remaining MAGA base and work towards a better future together is a naive proposition. The minuscule intellect/perpetual brainwashing is such that non MAGA=enemy.
English

@FCG_VR @AdrienEmber @isaiahrmartin Unfortunately, I think our media normalized being rude to one another. But I believe you and I can reverse that. Be the change you want to see! 🙂
English

@AdrienEmber @AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin And my overall point: they talk down. Republicans have talked recklessly for years. Tame in comparison to what Democrats have done. Historically, this started around the Obama era and Trump only blew it up. This idea only leftists are rude is ignorant.
English

@DupreeD35041 @isaiahrmartin Most people don’t come in to a conversation thinking they’ll change their mind about something. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin You can’t have a productive conversation with someone that is conversing to be right as opposed to being open to learn and possibly alter their opinions. Guy was literally being inclusive, he asked the man for his own opinion. He just couldnt articulate one.
English

@AdrienEmber @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin Weird. I wouldn’t have thought it’d matter to right leaning viewers that Fox have token democrats.
English

@AustinScott_tw @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin It’s their way of having “both sides” represented so they have a token Democrat. Similar to The View having a token Republican.
English

@AdrienEmber @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin Hm. Interesting. I wonder what the point is to introduce the potential that even a sliver of their viewers might be persuaded to a democrat’s POV.
English

@AustinScott_tw @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin Well, the Republicans on the panel are paid to not change their positions so, for the Democrat, it’s essentially a Sisyphean punishment.
English

@AdrienEmber @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin Ah ok. Thanks. I might’ve seen some clips. Is it effective? Like are the conversations civil and does anyone ever get persuaded? Or does it never change anyone’s mind?
English

@AustinScott_tw @FCG_VR @isaiahrmartin I think it’s a Fox show where 4 Republicans gang up on 1 Democrat and still lose nearly every time.
English

@Bryan81690142 @isaiahrmartin Sure. But warranted ≠ going to help this country/ourselves. We can’t move forward with just 52% of ourselves. We just can’t. The sooner politicians and ordinary people acknowledge that, the sooner we’ll be giving our future generations a chance at a better, safer country.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin If the shoe fits… John seems to be trying to have an intelligent conversation, I could maybe buy your point in this specific case. Maybe his mind could have been changed but most times “talking down” and being a dick to these retards is warranted.
English

@DupreeD35041 @californiahoop @mean_toe @isaiahrmartin That side doesn’t always like facts. So you’re not going to achieve cooperation by approaching them that way. When I work with the right, I focus on emotion rather than facts. That almost always works. Even if you reach just 10% common ground, that’s 10% more than you had before.
English

@AustinScott_tw @californiahoop @mean_toe @isaiahrmartin They don’t have to come to our side, they just have to be honest with themselves and operate in fact
English

@DupreeD35041 @isaiahrmartin Perhaps. But it’s still worth trying to be civil. We need to lead by example. We cannot win by talking down to our own neighbor. We MUST include them.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin Well…the guy from the right was more interested in winning an argument than acknowledging facts and accepting his level of understanding might be limited.
English

@UhWhoSaidDat @isaiahrmartin There’s a reason why this country has enshrined people like Jackie Robinson as heroes. It takes strength to be the better man, but history shows us that that’s the only way to truly get the other side to join you.
English

@AustinScott_tw @isaiahrmartin I mean I hear u, but the F bombs he threw down. In my opinion I think he met his match
English

@californiahoop @mean_toe @isaiahrmartin That’s true. There will always be parties because: we have some unchangeable rooted beliefs. But that said, when we focus on just those things, and not the the overlapping things we share in common, we damn ourselves to pendualism, stagnation, and potentially civil war.
English

@AustinScott_tw @mean_toe @isaiahrmartin They people are deep rooted in that mindset.
A New Yorker friend of mine predicts this division of thoughts a longtime ago, I thought he was nuts, not anymore.
