Hugely terrible DRM has now been rolled out to all PS4 and PS5 digital games. Every digital game you buy now requires an online check-in every 30 days. If you buy a digital game and don't connect your console to the internet for 30 days, your license will be removed.

Playstation has rolled out DRM on PS4/PS5 Digital games requiring online check-in every 30 days Newly purchased digital games now need to connect to PlayStation Network every 30 days to verify the license. If the console stays offline for more than 30 days, the game may stop working until an internet connection is made. Games you already owned before this change are not affected.

This is a good case study into how people too entwined in the culture war can’t just enjoy things when good things appear. By all measures it seems to be a fun game with a positive message & with protagonists people like, but even then, self inflicted teeth pulling must be done so they can scream in pain through a bloody mouth. It was annoying when game bloggers created endless controversies from nothing and it’s just as annoying when their detractors do the same.

There's a real fight. Because Steam user reviews are not really reviews in the traditional sense. Instead, they're used as a bargaining chip to communicate real time grievances with game updates, bugs, and developer choices at the expense of a game's actual overall quality and reputation. This is one of the many reasons why I don't trust user reviews and scores.

@wesleytypes @MegaCrit They made update and people didn't like it. It's not competetive game, how can you nerf all the fun stuff in it? Its review on current state of the game based on "how it feels to play right now vs how it was then", and i find it more informative rather than regular praising BS.

@wesleytypes @MegaCrit I love it. I don't care how the game was at release, but how it is in actuality. "bargaining chip" is wrong. It's more like a leverage. This way the companies can't deliver a shit cake and bail out. They will get review bombed and people won't buy their garbage.
