Superstition is abuse. At best, abuse to oneself. It’s a corruption of truth, abandonment of our critical faculties, and betrayal of our nature. A love for something that doesn’t exist, or worse, a proxy for those who would abuse such love to control you. Religion is poison.

@jun_song heard this for years and it's made no practical different have you ever considered we don't need a breakthrough?

I understand if you disagree with me. Yes, intelligence has clearly improved numerically and in benchmarks. My point is simply that we haven't seen a true architectural breakthrough like the Transformer in a long time. I believe we need real innovation to move to the next level.

To anyone expecting Opus-5 to make a massive leap over Fable: Sorry to break it to you, but we’ve been hitting a wall in AI progress for months now. There are no revolutionary breakthroughs. Everything from data curation and weight compression to compute efficiency has stalled out. We like to think we are accelerating, but looking at it objectively, the progress from Opus-4.5 to 4.8 is tiny—it’s mostly just harness improvements. In the end, every company chose to force-feed their weight sizes simply as a defensive move for their massive funding. Starting from Fable, to Sol, Grok, and literally all the Chinese AIs—they all just bloated their weights. This brought massive inefficiency to data center racks and only worsened the already scarce compute. And that is precisely what gave latecomers like Chinese labs and xAI the time to catch up. Due to this bottleneck, the first-mover advantage that frontier labs used to enjoy is rapidly shrinking. Now, the race has simply reset back to the same starting line: whoever brings the next real innovation wins.

If AI can develop advanced math, that implies it can create new ideas. How smart will it get soon? If it gets original and creative enough, then it would be able to develop recursive self improvement, where a better AI makes a better AI makes a better AI. This would germinate artificial superintelligence, which would most likely exterminate humanity to seize all of Earth's water, minerals and fuel sources. This is called instrumental convergence. This is the number one reason people like me are scared of AI and want datacenter construction to stop everywhere. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumen…

@IsaacKing314 @TheMateusRizzo We constantly try to automate our work away, it’s built into us The reason is new things built affords new opportunity and an infinite new amount of things to build Our backlog never stops AI just makes this faster

@Grummz This is a shit take from you. This AI slop still looks like AI slop. I wish I could turn it off from my X feed because it STILL looks plasticky and fake. I don't want to look at it. I CERTAINLY don't want to pay for it.

X vTubers and commission artists are melting down over AI today. And when you go look, their art is always worse than AI. This is a jealousy thing. They are angry their "skills" can't compete with AI and so they want to destroy it and forbid it from use. I get it, and I actually sympathize, but you throwing a tantrum and acting like a dick to your existing remaining customers is only going to hasten the AI replacement of you.

@explosss1ve you'd be surprised, AI can sculpt, use geometry nodes - and while initial results are always terrible - the frontier models can iterate and iterate and iterate

MCP CAN DRIVE BLENDER ALL DAY AND STILL NOT SCULPT ONE SPINE ON THIS THING a model through MCP writes bpy, blocks out a base mesh, sets the scene, spins the camera, hits render, reads its own frame. that whole loop got cheap. the scaffold of a creature is a conversation now. but look at what's actually on screen. the layered spines. the skin that folds like it has muscle under it. the asymmetry that reads as alive instead of generated. that's sculpt work. hours in the brush, by someone who knows how a jaw should sit and where a ridge breaks. no prompt makes organic detail feel earned. MCP gives you the blockout, the lighting, the turntable. it doesn't give you the hand that pushed every spike. the technical middle of 3d collapsed. the sculpt, the taste, the thing that makes a monster look like it could bite, still didn't move.

@PsychCaptainX @SeanSankerJr It will massively speed up making certain kinds of software - and some software will just be entirely eaten by AI. This will afford us more time to innovate instead of recreating what has already been written. A problem we've been solving in an infinite different ways until AI.

@SeanSankerJr Genuine question, I do not work in tech. I was thinking about this yesterday. Yes, generally all software quality will go up to a level, but wouldnt AI stifle novel software creation and funnel everyone towards what already exists because it's just easier/cheaper?

Nobody asked for AI in every IDE. Nobody asked for standups summarized by LLMs. Nobody asked for code review bots that approve their own suggestions. Nobody asked for data centers everywhere. Most people just want clean water, food, and a planet that's still worth living on.

Yup no disagreement at all about intimidating people for clout booo. Super annoying. But be serious man... Defending yourself from not getting hit with a bike? You understand how I'm a little confused about the causality here? Does this person not become a problem AFTER causing harm? These people are in the middle of a bike lane. If I saw this dude coming I would keep looking at my phone. He wins the second you acknowledge him that's why he is doing what he is doing 😐

This made me think! Why didn’t Nolan go sci-fi!? Could’ve worked too. If you think the story is metaphorical (and can be tinkered with) why not go whole hog? (That’s not a reference to Circe btw)
