@aaronpalmer @fandompulse You are in luck. There is a group planning to do this every year. This building on someone that already did it with chatgpt once and put up the project in GitHub for everyone to see. The works were taken down via a lawsuit. But can be found if you know where to look.

The answer to this GRM problem is staring is in the face. If the dude really doesn’t want to finish the books, he should just write a 150 page deep synopsis of how he’d finish it, with all the major beats in it, then have an AI flesh it out to his usual book length, using all the previous books and related reference material as character templates and voices, and I bet it spits out the final two books in something reasonably close to what he would have written. If he’s going lazy out of this, at least go this route to get something final into his fans hands, that meets his vision.

Brandon Sanderson on why he would not finish George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones even if he was asked: "I wouldn't say yes to finishing ASOIAF, if asked. (And I don't think they'd ask me.) I'd respectfully decline. I wouldn't be right for the job for many reasons. I wouldn't want to put in the content that the series has, and part of that is due to my religious faith, part of it is just who I am. I don't shy away from difficult material, but I prefer not to get explicit. Honestly, when I read it in George's work, I often just cringe. I don't think it fits in prose; I think it looks tacky. But that's almost 100% due to the my religious leanings. I realize that others don't read such scenes in the same way as I do. However, I'd suggest that this is actually a minor reason why I'd be a bad writer on this series, despite having enormous respect for GRRM and his talent as a storyteller. The primary reason has to do with fundamental optimism vs pessimism. I write darkness into my books, but it is darkness as contrast to light, and there is always a spark of hope. George's work seems fundamentally pessimistic--which I don't say as a slam. One of my favorite short stories is Harrison Bergeron, which is also fundamentally pessimistic. Saying George's work is pessimistic doesn't mean that HE is pessimistic, only that he creates a work of art that evokes emotion and discussion through pessimistic themes. As a comparison, I'm glad that Silver Age science fiction produced both Harrison Bergeron and Star Trek--but I'm Star Trek, not Harrison Bergeron. Calling me in to work on this piece would be like calling in Spielberg to finish a Tarantino film. (Not to imply I deserve to be ranked with either one.) Sure, he could do it, but wouldn't you want someone who themselves makes films with Tarantino-like themes? My work is also fundamentally different from George's in our use of magic. We've talked about books, and he points out (rightly) that I often use a heavily magical component in my stories--particularly the endings. This is because I'm writing science/magic hybrids, and the idea of magic as progress is fascinating to me. George, however, prefers his magic to be arcane, unknown, and dark--not a tool, but a force you can sometimes (with great danger) apply. This is a small issue, as I'm fond of books that use magic differently, I've just made a stylistic choice in how I do what I do." Do you think this still holds?

Would guess this relates to projects yet to be named. Time will tell. A more pressing question is if the versions of it submitted to the guild are different or not. I also have to wonder just how bad it is? But some people say it is horrible. Others say it's just stupid.

The controversy about the animated Animal Farm movie somehow being distributed by Angel Studios after Netflix dropped it is interesting. According to some rumors, a reason why Angel Studios picked it up had to do with establishing a relation with 2 of the companies that made it.

Interesting that the modest success of the new video games has sparked this revival. I would like it a lot if Nacon could up the budget of Teyon. Only things the new games miss is having better cinematics and a gore system like the one from Dead Island 2.

Then there are also the comic book adaptations which for whatever reason always had a low budget which limited their potential and quality. There is even a Robocop 3 comic book series adapting and extending the original screenplay. Just to answer what could have been.

@fandompulse Don't forget the tv series and comic series. Which are odd but interesting in a kooky way. The first movie is great considering when it was released. The rest of the movies are just weird or bad. Sequel being inspiring some of fallout lore was always funny to me.

Released April 3, 1968, Planet of the Apes is an American science fiction film loosely based on a 1963 novel by Pierre Boulle. Directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, it stars Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, James Whitmore, James Daly and Linda Harrison. Does this movie hold up over time?

@jondelarroz Overall good. S01 is the one that is great and I recommend even if you leave the show there. Best thing ever produced by SyFy channel. Most forget it started there. Cancelled because it cost too much. Picked by Netflix, dropped and then picked up by Amazon Prime and dropped.

I saw a listicle that showed The Expanse as one of the best sci-fi series of all time. I never watched it because the authors joined a cancel mob against me and were pricks. Is it actually that good?

@ColinBest1978 @worthitorwoke The biggest tragedy is RoP going through $1.5B-$1.6B of money for what amount to just utter shit. Even if over half a billion was just looted via fake inflated costs and the like. I bet RoP by The Asylum made for 1/10 of that would be a better watch. I only hate watched S01.

@AvatarX @worthitorwoke Thanks for all this, very interesting.I also assume Paramount won't bother promoting the 2nd season much,if at all.Might just release it all as a single dump too.

@ColinBest1978 @worthitorwoke May still be cheaper. Burt even beyond all those things. I asked around and staffers (As the actual working men of Hollywood) and their representatives put "black marks" on cancelled productions that were already on schedule. Which makes cancelling expensive also reputation wise

@AvatarX @worthitorwoke Yeah I was wondering what would be cheaper for Paramount-to just finish and broadcast the 2nd season,or to pay off whatever contractual obligations they'd be breaking if they didn't.

@worthitorwoke @ColinBest1978 I used to wonder myself the same thing. But it turns out a lot of the times a minimum amount of seasons gets contracted. And that is reflected in Production insurance and talent contracts before a first season is even finished. Cancelling becomes too expensive. Example: RoP

@crierlon @Pirat_Nation Pokémon has a big marketing budget and it is fully tied to a big IP. The games are AAA more based on that alone than the games delivered. If you were to not take that into account. The games would be considered AA then.

@AvatarX @Pirat_Nation By that logic. Pokemon isn’t AAA. Budget capabilities determine your scope. Keeping smaller teams is just increasing profit margins.

@Abruek1 Yes, the port of the first game is official. The one for the second game is not. There is now a whole world of unofficial android ports of indie games in case you were not aware. Lots of them.

@crierlon @Pirat_Nation Game still an indie in terms of budget, scope and small dev team. Studio is what is no longer an indie. It is kind of the same situation as Team Cherry who are behind Hollow Knight. Is weird, but a game can be an indie while coming from a studio with backing like Dave The Diver.

@AvatarX @Pirat_Nation Nah. With that windfall of a budget for their next game, they aren’t Indie. Indie usually refers to the garage developers or too small for Epic Games to give a shit about collecting royalties from you.

@fandompulse This was known for years. But even then, it cannot be just. It is likely they did assured pay contracts for the main talent and that the production insurance contract was also crazy. Meaning, it would cost them hundreds of millions to shut it down. Apart from industry black marks

Amazon is reported by ScreenRant to be fully intent on completing The Rings Of Power as a series. "Rings of Power is still slated to complete its plan of five seasons and 50 episodes. That is what Amazon was originally contracted to do when it signed with the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien, publisher HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema, the latter of which was behind the fan-favorite Peter Jackson trilogy." "If Amazon failed to stick to that plan, then they'd have to pay the Tolkien estate a kill fee of $20 million per season. At this point, it may be better to let the series play out and hope that the viewership increases with more seasons." Is this the most costly mistake in TV history?
