In 2002, during Operation Anaconda, Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Britt Slabinski demonstrated incredible courage and leadership. After his reconnaissance team came under heavy fire in Afghanistan, and a teammate was ejected from their helicopter, Slabinski led a daring rescue mission. He repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire, carried a seriously wounded team member through deep snow, and fought for 14 hours until extraction. For his extraordinary heroism, Senior Chief Slabinski was awarded the Medal of Honor.
