Jammin Games - Gunship Origins

I'm delighted to announce that I've partnered with @micro_prose in a publishing deal for my combat helicopter game! It will be released as Gunship Origins; the first Gunship title published by MicroProse in over 25 years. As a huge fan of MicroProse games in the 90s, this couldn't be a better fit. I'm absolutely pumped about it.

To be honest, I don't really know how to set people's expectations accurately. Some people seem to want AAA graphics quality from a tiny indie studio, and they let us know that in every YouTube video comment they make. 😅 I think we'll punch above our weight, don't get me wrong. I brought on my brother just to improve visuals and that's what he's focused on. But I'm also much more interested in investing in compelling gameplay that stands the test of time, rather than just pretty graphics. And we only have the time we have. If this game is to ever come out, we'll have to make some tradeoffs somewhere. That's enough of that. Back to work!

@jammingames It doesn't even need to be as realistic as MSFS or support the entire globe, it's just got to support multiplayer & have some cool missions that can be added over time. Plus it works with the Logitech 🕹️, the Honeycomb gear & many of us have these for Drone games & FPV

@jammingames Would be cool for a post 1.0 idea, for when a chopper is shot at, gunners and pilots actually slump if hit, or have basic hit animations. I mean, it would also be cool to see them rattle round if the chopper is hit and going down.

@jammingames This could be super successful, do you know how many people want MSFS Combat? When 2020 released it created 2 billion in GPU and HOTAS sales.

Looking at the bigger picture, I’ve come to realize that a major benefit of being on Twitter/X for me is that I can follow the creators of small but great games and see how they’re developing their projects. One of them is the Road Defense Racing demo from @cleitoncmachado, which you can check out on Steam. Awesome little bastards!

@jammingames Yep. Using your home WiFi is going to be really spiky and inconsistent. I use this gli net travel router but just about anything will work well. Also just make sure the channel it’s on is different from your home network

What’s the best way to tether a Quest 3 to windows 11 machine? I’ve been using virtual desktop streamer but I don’t think it supports tethering unless I’m missing something. The built in meta desktop thing didn’t work well last I tried but it’s been a while. I’ll try again this afternoon

@jammingames I use the link cable often and these days it's pretty good. I've nit had any issues with it. If you ever went into the "Oculus Debug Tool" and adjusted settings, they could be impacting your performance.

@Doolwind I have a pretty great router but I was just too far away from it.

@jammingames It’s worth upgrading your wifi network if you can. I got a Unifi router and access point and both Air Link and Steam VR are flawless on wifi now. On my old crappy router/AP combo it was totally unusable.
