I wish Chelsea fans understood our standing and actual level. Players like Maignan and Gittens do not move the needle for us - there is no need to get desperate about signing them. These are players we should sign only on our terms. If not, no need to break our heads.

Cherki is a genius footballer. I believe, from what I’ve seen and what I know, that personality concerns are minimal and overblown. I think out of possession and work rate concerns are serviceable. I strongly believe he fits in and thrives at City. I am 1000% for the move.

Sancho should stay. If you get mudryk out ( which he should ), you get a Rodrygo and use Sancho as depth. Estevao on the other side needs a balancer that can play both wings ( why Maresca has tried Noni x Neto on both wings multiple times ). Need a PnP winger that can function

This is my template for a Chelsea 25-man squad next season. Will be interesting to see how much this changes over the summer, but this is currently where I’m at. The configurations at CB is the only thing I’m unsure on and it depends a lot on what profile of CB we sign.

@LKCOYB Sesko and leao should be the signings, one for potential and for one immediate impact, best thing for any young striker to have is a team that creates plenty of chances.

Osimhen is the clear #1 target if we’re serious. But if we’re signing “potential”, then Sesko probably has the highest ceiling (in our system) of any CF in the world. It’s just: — The thought of signing another raw striker after what we’ve endured with Jackson is tough. — There’s never an 100% guarantee it clicks — The price is now in risky-territory for a prospect But if you’re going to be patient & wait on a prospect, at least let the rewards at the end be a goldmine. If we decide to go down that route, the safe-bet is to at least supplement our CFs with another clear/reliable goal-scoring forward, so they can be treated in a Firmino-esque fashion (re. demand for goals). A way to ease the pressure of both, who can reliably offer 10-15 PL goals minimum while offering good link-up play. Then our ceiling grows with their ability to hit 20+ PL goals level.

Good thread. However, you can think of this as young Leao or Vinicius. If you have the absolutely elite tools he has + the top personality/mental profile, it is going to be a success. All you need is time and/or a good environment. Which is where Monsieur Arteta comes in

Yidiz and Gittens are different profiles. For me, Yidiz is a 10 playing on the wing. He will need players to link up with and a FB going outside. Plus, he will have the tendencies to drift inside as a habit. Gittens is a line hugging winger who will rather drive down the line than look for a linkup play. He shouldn’t have any issue with hugging the line for 90 minutes. It depends on how we want to play and who suits it. But in my opinion, Yidiz is a lot like Sancho. I don't think that profile is suitable for hugging line. They're better playing with an offensive FB.
