UK-based VTuber and artist Mimi Yanagi was arrested on April 20 for her own drawings of anime-style characters. These drawings were 100% fictional, made up by her, with no real people involved. UK law still treats these kinds of drawings as illegal child pornography, police took all her computers and devices. She has now been released on bail, but she is not allowed to post any “adult” content. She must also use an account name approved by the police. The UK is lost, you can’t even draw now, they will put you in prison

The moment society starts jailing people for fictional things is the moment freedom is lost and you welcome enslavement for any reason really. It opens the door for thought crimes/fantasy punishing what someone might think or create, not real crimes or real harm. Artists and writers could all be jailed for horror/murder ect drawings/stories by this logic. Then it opens the door to all fictional things viewed as “bad.” COD for war crimes? GTA or roleplay for fictional crimes? It’s all the same core, fictional harm. Look at this VTuber case, they seized her devices plus all her anime figurines, manga, and art for fictional drawings. Same reasoning. And they jail people over memes too. With the new incest/step-sis porn laws, this is scaling up fast. So for Game of Thrones-level taboo fiction, the same category of made up content means the creator and those who own it are now also able to be jailed in the same manner, by what they’ve actively shown they do to people over fictional things. This is where everyone becomes a slave, devoid of freedom and free thoughts, not allowed to question things.
