I grew up poor. My 1st home was a garage + ppl used to tell me that I'd be a HS dropout & on welfare. At 34, I have an MBA + 12 yrs in tech. I'm working on my dream, a world where tech is created + lead by our pop's diversity, as CoS @catalyte_io + investor @nextgenvp. Dream.

Many entrepreneurs relinquish their special dreams, thinks it'll never come true as it's not aligned to fit into a certain parameters. Many unconventional dreams have come true, execution shouldn't matter. Never underestimate yourself when no one else is with you. Be optimistic!

The founders, who've been the same people all along, find their personas have been switched from "plucky young founder trying to make new idea work" to "evil plutocrat bent on destroying the world." Whatever people can get attention by portraying you as, you'll be portrayed as.

When a startup is small, it seems cute and the press writes encouragingly about it. When it reaches the size where they can get attention by attacking it, they do that instead.

There's a correlation between companies' AI strategy & their OSS strategy. Most AI software is Open source. A world-class AI strategist must be a world-class OSS strategist, & too often this isn't the case. Companies that ignore OSS will likely see their AI initiatives wither.
