@Anstria_G @Watchman_motto Not a popular opinion, but I agree. I work with elderly people - they enjoy visits, and treasure their private time. One 96yo friend is so independent, I can’t imagine anyone telling her she can’t drive anymore 👀 she’ll decide. Big family

@Watchman_motto You had me until "And the grandkids can visit as often as they want.” Not every elderly person wants kids around when they want to visit and it’s inconvenient or having a bad day. Nor do they want to become captive babysitters. Help staying in their own home is a better idea.
English

We built an in-laws house on our property in the woods behind the barn. Very similar to the one pictured. My parents live there currently.
I have some thoughts. It’s very difficult to handle elderly parents. Especially those of the boomer generation. Of course all of us have to handle the concept of our own death and nobody wants to die. I think boomers are especially avoidant of this topic and from my experience will do anything to avoid even acknowledging that they will someday pass away.
But you really don’t have a lot of options for when your parents are old. Do you put them in a home? That’s mad expensive and those places are miserable. Do you let them wither away in their own home - in my case a 1hr commute? How does that work when they need help?
If you have the means, I think this kind of thing is the best option. They get
To live somewhere rent free which helps with their finances. You’re close by if they need help. And the grandkids can visit as often as they want. All other struggles aside.

@GrannySnakebite @AriMattiComedy Thanks for the referral, I can always use a laugh. And you’re right - Central Coast is lacking comedy
English

@Azfunaziam That’s the Estonian Assassin @AriMattiComedy
I need to open a comedy club on the Central Coast. There is a worrisome lack of mirth and merriment in California.

Please print a retraction or I’m going to sue you, @RohdeD
I’ve never been “convicted of deceit.” I won on Summary Judgment on “trespass” in the Democracy Partners case.

@CZloveforlife @atensnut You're right—green eyes are rarer. Worldwide, about 8-10% of people have blue eyes, while only 2% have green. Both are much less common than brown (70-80%), but green takes the prize for rarity among lighter shades. Cool question in this blue-eye thread!

@stephenehorn Yes, I knew that. I grew up in Kern County, and he printed his UFW Newsletter at our local newspaper where my mom worked as a reporter. He was an interesting guy, focused on his mission, and he achieved a lot for the laborers. He was a hero.

They're erasing Cesar Chavez so fast, it's almost like they were just looking for an excuse...
Anyways, did you know that Chavez was a border hawk because he saw illegals being brought in as scabs to break his strikes?
He even had his cousin organize a private border patrol to stop the illegals from coming over into America

Letter by letter, crews cover up “Plaza De Cesar Chavez” in San Jose.

@CovfefeKatie She was all over keeping his legacy alive… I met her when they opened the Cesar Chavez Museum in Kern County 20yrs ago. Her name was synonymous with his.

@JeffClarkUS The open borders allowed people to come from countries that have cultures that are incompatible with the American way of life. Many who migrated here actually hate us. How can that be good for us?

As I drive around checking off Saturday errands, I am catching up on my painfully sacrificial diet of leftist podcasts.
I just heard David Frum (a fake intellectual if there ever was one) say that “illegal immigration is a threat to the labor market, but not a threat to safety.”
The guy’s clueless. Many illegal aliens have inflicted horrific crimes on our people. Apparently, he’s never heard of Laken Riley or Jocelyn Nungaray.
And who knows how many terror cells Joe Biden let across a totally open 2021-early 2025 border?
Brother Americans on the Left, wake up please. And stop listening to faux intellectual blowhards like Frum and then thinking you’re sophisticated because he writes for The Atlantic.
It’s at around the 10 to 11 minute mark here:

@joelpollak Real Clear Politics had a guest today who says Delores Huarta (co-founder of NFWA with Chavez) admitted that she, too, had been raped by Ceasar Chavez.

@samthelion79 Ya what does that comment even MEAN? I think your original post is hilarious!

@wilson_dunham_f They came for my Guinea hens 4 night in a row, it was a bloody mess. I was housesitting for the owner who raises exotic birds - and has heavy duty industrial kennels set up. But the Guineas were new, and young, and he hadn’t worked their area out yet, so… traumatic

Based on where I found her, I'm guessing it a coon. Minimal feathers lost.
Pardon my french, but I fucking HATE racoons. At least they could have the courtesy to eat more than just the head.
Grrrrrrrr. 😡🤬
If so, they'll back tonight - with buddies.

The predator war has begun. Again. Coon? Or hawk? Or owl?

@jayplemons What an ironic world.
“Rules for thee but not for me”
The double standard is truly amazing for people to see. It reveals so much about who Newsom is and who he surrounds himself with.

Street vending blocks handicap access to sidewalks, break every healthcode, pay little in taxes and cook with propane tanks next to cardboard and bust streets.

🚨BREAKING: Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles have launched a taxpayer-funded program to provide FREE food carts to sidewalk vendors. Since some can’t afford food carts, LA County is making hardworking taxpayers spend nearly $3 million on 280 food carts to give away to new street vendors.
English

@ChefGruel You probably know- it’s not uncommon to use SNAP to buy the food sold from the carts. In some ways I admire the ingenuity, while also resenting taxpayer funding
English

Local businesses also received a similar program of equal value to help hedge against rising costs and regulations. Just kidding, they hate businesses.
