Also, hitchhikers are targeted by murderers. It would be best to have a tour guide or at least someone from the local area whom you can consult.

@Azrakul1997 @paleonormie That's a very helpful comment, thank you. I saw some Japanese people on YouTube who tried hitchhiking, and one of them said a driver told him it could be dangerous. I’d love to travel like in the movie Into the Wild, but I’m not sure how realistic or safe that is.

Though the book was written by a man, the movie was directed by Mary Harron, who never understood why male audiences liked Bateman. It's because he was making a mockery of women while acting like one! Director Harron still doesn't understand what she's done.
