@localrach @DavidM_Friedman Hey actually this land was legally purchased by Jews in the 1920s but they faced a series of massacres until they were ultimately ethnically cleanse by Jordan when it took control of the West Bank in '48. Does that change your attitude about it or no?

WATCH: A mob of anti-Israel protesters swarm the streets outside a historic Manhattan synagogue — clashing with police officers and waving Palestinian flags. The crowd led chants of “Israel should not exist” while also targeting the NYPD, comparing officers to the KKK. This latest protest comes as the NYPD searches for four people wanted in connection to an antisemitic graffiti spree in the city.

Dear @owenjonesjourno. As editor of Jewish News, I was appalled by the language my deputy used towards you. There is no excuse for the unnecessary use of a full stop before a coordinating conjunction. The sentence should, of course, have read: “I am Deputy Editor of Jewish News and I’m respectfully asking you to fuck right off.”

4/More background on this particular area of the West Bank from a reader. I'm not familiar with the specifics here, but there are parts of the WB that have long been effectively penciled in for future land swaps back when a two-state solution was a remotely realistic possibility.

New Yorkers don't just have the right to protest the sale of stolen Palestinian land -- they have a responsibility to. NYPD should be protecting our first amendment rights, not blocking and pepper spraying us when we exercise them.

I was there, and they were advertising illegal land sales. It’s not a smear if it’s true!

I’m deeply disturbed by the hateful rhetoric heard last night outside Park East Synagogue. Calls for the destruction of Israel and the glorification of Hezbollah are horrific, intimidating, and only fuel the flames of antisemitism. I’m grateful for the NYPD officers who worked under difficult circumstances to maintain public safety. I also saw some questions about safe access, the size of the perimeter, and the movement of press around the area. Whether you are a congregant entering a house of worship, a peaceful protestor, a journalist, or a passerby, the Council’s new law will help bring greater transparency to the considerations that the NYPD uses in situations like these.

Update: I got into the Israel real estate event at Park East Synagogue. Inside I saw at least one table advertising properties in the West Bank, including Kfar Eldad and Karnei Shomron.

The pre-school at Park East Synagogue was forced to close early because it could not ensure safe dismissal. When children can’t safely leave school, something is deeply wrong. This is unacceptable.

Cops started attacking pro-Palestine protesters who are marching around the block to evade police barricades that are blocking off several streets. People in the crowd were just pepper sprayed and shoved with metal barricades. Several cops were mad they pepper sprayed themselves.

Outside event promoting Aliyah and real estate in Israel at Park East Synagogue: Protesters gathered on intersection of 68th and Lexington chanting “Intifada revolution, there is only one solution,” “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “We don't want a two state, we want 48.” Via my colleague @hannah_feuer

Mayor Mamdani condemned a land sale event about to take place at an Upper East Side synagogue today, with a spokesman saying the event could violate international law if there are sales of land in the Occupied Territories theintercept.com/2026/05/05/zoh…
