Everything is about climate change. And bicycles, always bicycles. Down with long covid, but slowly climbing back up. https://t.co/QxGxVl0nvp

It’s been 5 years and I’ve seen it once. Really makes you wonder how much we’re missing. 8/8

@TheChefsGardens @KristinaRevay Mr. Popularity here hoping that shortage extends to gasoline. I would have to pinch myself if my neighbors weren't all driving trivial distances. It would be like the old days...15 years ago.😂 Suddenly safe to walk or bicycle.🥰 And take Mow, Blow, & Go Joe with you!

@adamkovac @mattyglesias Vision Zero has a definition. The Zero Vision adopted by some US cities is quite different. Do we harden with bollards, K-rails, cables, & unmountable curbs? No! Why? Because we value car bodies more than human bodies, the opposite of VZ. Thoughts & prayer approach fails again.

Urbanists are loathe to admit it, but Vision Zero has been a flop. All the public education campaigns and road diets can't compete with phone-distracted drivers. As @mattyglesias says, the rational response would be to embrace autonomous cars. But urbanists aren't.

The scariest part isn’t what’s happening. It’s how quickly “this is wrong” turned into “this is normal.”

@ReadLyte They're not even cars anymore, they're ESVs (Emotional Support Vehicles) that are the size of living rooms. I guess people are dealing with the housing shortage by driving small houses.🙃

There were almost 1.5 billion cars in the world in 2023. Now there are about 1.65 billion cars in the world. More development in the wrong direction when sustainable redevelopment is required.
Myron Belej, RPP, MCIP@ReadLyte

@Point_of_Gold @Teoli2003 There are close to 1.5 billion cars in the world today. (No cars prior to 1886.) Let’s say that corresponds to around 6 billion tyres. Will we find sustainability in ongoing research to improve tyre content & wear? Or in redevelopment that makes most cars and tyres irrelevant?

@drseanmullen Let's see if Sweden can hold that thought for a few weeks. I think its national record for contrition is measured in hours.

@dryostradamus But, but, but I did all the things. I mean, I'm not a youngish woman, so why TF do I have LC?🤣🙃 This really has been a circus with far too many clown cars, except it's not funny at all. (Not meaning to demean the many researchers busting ass and doing their best.💪)

Let's all agree cyclists should pay Vehicle Excise Duty like car drivers have to. To be consistent we should calculate it using the same methods applied to motorised vehicles. Cyclists do not create emissions and do not damage the road. Therefore the charge comes to zero. Result.

@1goodtern I'm seeing a lot more news reports of American football players (lots of head trauma) getting out of control off the field lately. I can't help but wonder about synergistic, or even just additive, effects of repeated head blows and SARS2 vascular/neural damage.

@BirdieBittern @CovidSolidarit1 I swear people are getting paid to say the flu is worse than covid. IF it is the flu, it’s worse BECAUSE COVID wiped out your immune system.

@1goodtern @TheVertlartnic @TheVertlartnic is somebody's master's thesis just waiting to happen. Each headline followed by what inspired it and the actual science that the official body was denying, full receipts with names named.

@waltz_tales I'm lucky. My wife cuts what's left of my hair. It's gotten a lot easier since she switched to a 1/2 or 3/4 inch guard on an electric clipper. My brother-in-law just does his on his own, same tool. (My wife's nicer than her little sister.🤣)

How are COVID conscious people managing haircuts these days? I called around until I found a guy who would wear a mask and sees one customer at a time. Bit pricey though, so I ration haircuts.

@TMaritanoAquino @waltz_tales @envidreamz I held out for a year but my hair got impossibly long so I finally broke down and started watching YouTube tutorials to learn how to cut it myself. And you know, it's not half bad! The shag is especially easy to pull off if you have a little wave in your hair.

@cyclist13 @ArtistCyclist I guess it's a sad state of affairs when I infer from your post that most golfers are actually walking the course where you live. Here in the US, it's quite rare for anyone to play a round without riding most of it in a golf cart. What happened to "a good walk ruined"?😂
