@RepPressley She probably thinks that blacks got to vote during reconstruction.

It is an incredible honor to receive an endorsement from Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
She has been one of the most powerful voices in Washington as Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, opening the doors of banking and finance to Black and Brown communities who were locked out for generations.

George Floyd’s life was taken from him 6 years ago today.
There are 5 main points I'd like to make today as we remember this man:
1) The Police acted in disgusting fashion and were WRONG.
We need to learn from this, make new laws to make sure this doesn't ever happen again. We need to see to it that we hire people who know better and are trained to deal with such situations humanely.
2) Police Are NOT the Enemy.
One of the most stressful jobs on the planet is a Police officer. They protect us and save lives daily. They put other people before themselves and their own mental states. There are bad cops, but the vast majority of police are heroes.
3) Don't let the riots and damage after Floyd's death define Floyd as a man or overshadow what happened here.
Destruction and riots are NEVER the answer. To those who rioted, you are wrong.
4) Stop Pretending that Floyd's Past remotely makes his Death any less tragic.
Good people do bad things. Good people who do bad things also do good things. We've all done things we regret. Don't let his past diminish his right to live, or how horrible the actions of the officers were.
5) Use this to Unite People, Not Divide Them
Floyd's death should be a catalyst for change. It should spark conversations and ignite dialogue. It should inspire peaceful activism and teach us all how to be better.

On this Memorial Day we remember those who have given their lives in the service of this nation, and we hold in our hearts the families and loved ones they left behind.
For those of us who wore the uniform in combat, this is a day where we remember our friends and comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember them as they were: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. And we rededicate ourselves to living good lives, not to waste the opportunity to live on they gave us with their sacrifice.
The willingness of some young Americans to sign the dotted line and risk their futures for the good of the nation is a resource we must jealously guard. It cannot be abused and squandered by those in power for their own benefit. The best way to honor the dead is to make sure future generations are not sacrificed for no reason.
Semper Fidelis.

@TonyLaneNV There’s something strangely similar to all these teen take overs but I just can’t think of k of what it may be
English

The rise of these “teen takeovers” across America honestly feels like a warning sign about where society is heading.
Hundreds of teenagers shutting down streets, malls, beaches and restaurants… while entire crowds stand around recording it for social media.
Some cities are now preparing for these events almost like planned emergencies.

@GrizzledTexan @KabblahBarbie @SusieM414141 I think he said she would have bit you. I’m a little rusty on jive.

@KabblahBarbie @SusieM414141 Could you try that again but in something closer to literate English? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

@MayorFrey He OD’d! The truth came out finally! Your city allowed a racist mob to influence the scales of justice and ruin a police officer’s life!!!

@hyperbolicnews @nypost That societal standard got flushed during the Summer of St George Floyd in 2020. Now we’re scared to even call it a riot….teen takeover now. Its bullshit.

@FoxUSNews Residents of Tybee tried to stop this event a few years ago and were labled racist.

@AmplifyVeracity @mattvanswol It is “Black” Bike Week. The event calls attention to the race of the bikers.
English

@mattvanswol It feels where that you had to point out the race of the bikers twice in the same tweet.
