Had a request for updated US cancer deaths data. Haven't posted data for a while. Seemed like nobody cared anymore, but here's annual cancer deaths. Crude rate is basically unchanged for a decade, age adjusted sets another all-time low.

Claim: Everyone who thinks we should have more manufacturing jobs is someone who: - Doesn't work in the manufacturing sector, - Doesn't want to work in the manufacturing sector, and - Doesn't want their kids to work in the manufacturing sector, either

This is good. It's the additional revenue that the CPC projets it will get from the elimination of the carbon tax. In other words, they're acknowledging that people got more back than what they paid -- in their own platform!

Is immigration driving up the price of bread, newspapers, phone calls, or bicycles? No. Because we allow supply to increase.

Today, 48 planes are scheduled to fly between Montreal and New York City. With proper high-speed rail and pre-clearance protocols, this journey could take less than 3 hours by train. Currently, it takes 11 hours by train. We deserve better.

This is terrible policy that will only boost demand and set a new floor for entry-level home prices. It won’t just fail to solve the housing crisis— it’ll actively make it worse. Enabling endless debt ≠ affordability.
Brian Platt@btaplatt

Freeland also announced the government will increase the withdrawal limit on what first-time homebuyers can take from their RRSP for a down payment. Currently is 35K, will increase to 60K. Timelines for paying back are also being extended.

Whatever you think about carbon taxes, uniformity and equal treatment is important. It's also where Canada's approach needs improvement. #cdnpoli #cdnecon

Proposition: a policy that reintroduces 1) a *single* economic-class pathway to PR status based on CRS and 2) zero allowance on off-campus work during studies, would achieve the same reduction in foreign status entries as new cap but better target admissions at “bad-actor” DLIs.
