@YardsPerPass Bad teams are going to be bad for sooooo long. Unclear why NFL as a whole would take a page from NBA on this. At least NBA it can't be consecutive and there's more reasons for player trades. But the protections have gotten out of control too.

Smart teams (like the Rams) are obviously for it, b/c they know they can take advantage of the dumb ones But overall for the league's health as a whole, it is a bad idea

Nothing creates more interest in the NFL than trades. This is why Cleveland’s proposal to allow teams to trade picks up to 5 years out as opposed to 3 years out makes so much sense. More picks to trade = more trades = more interest & team building options.

A true market reset at center Previous record at C for APY as % of cap at signing - 7.4% (arguable less given this was in COVID year) Linderbaum - 8.96% And only 3 year deal. Probably one of the biggest market jumps of all time, certainly in modern times

So if you're TLs agent that's where negotiations start, right? I'm becoming less shocked by the $27m AAV, and more perplexed in the 3yr length for LV.

I mean that’s the weird thing. Yes, Linderbaum is the best outside zone center I’ve seen since the old school Chris Meyers days. But you also don’t need a center to make every protection call if you’re running PA pass 30% of the time! I think it’s a super weird deal, I don’t know if I love it, but when we grade deals I want us to have more intentionality on opportunity costs

But for Raiders does this keep them from adding TL and spending elsewhere? Obv opportunity cost either way ... But for Mendoza coming in... I duno I'm not saying it's a no brainer, but I get it.

I haven’t deeply studied Center tape all around the league, but to justify this investment, I think you have to believe he’s the best in the game

Agreed that doesn't automatically make it a good deal, but I don't think pinning it to the previous high automatically makes it a bad deal either.

But not $27m vs the other offers in this market. Did they beat the market by $1m or $8m? From that lens not sure it matters for this Raiders iteration.
