@DamnItdale88 This might be worse. It's a different time with everyone glued to their phones, so it feel different but everyone who watched that 2001 daytona500 knew Dale was in a bad wreck. This came out of nowhere. As a kid I knew Dale was hurt bad, today I just figured Kyle was gonna be ok

It's really cool to see @mitchelmoles01 click off a couple of wins on the year already compared to last year. He's Mr. Consistent and an ace in qualifying. He deserves his success, and how can you not like him when he says I like guns and money in his feature win interview.

It’s been a while since JJ was at Terre Haute. They’ve even put a Chick-fil-A out front he didn’t know about. Thank you so much @mpvexpress for coming on board. We would’ve hoped for a better finish, but the Engine did not get the memo.

He’s back! For the first time in 22 years, @jjyeley1 returns to the #HulmanClassic tonight! He won this race at the Terre Haute Action Track in 1997 & 2003. Overall, he has 7 USAC @AMSOILINC National Sprint Car wins here at THAT. Tonight, he’s in Rick Horn’s #51. On Track: 6:30pm ET

INDIANA Kosciusko County - County Commissioner Candidates Pictured (L to R) are Southern District Kosciusko County Commissioner candidates Robert “Bob” Conley, incumbent, and Don Wiesehan. Both are Republicans. Interesting, the Local GOP is not in favor of having a forum debate or a discussion at the Lincoln Day Dinner. There is a pattern how the Republican Party, or Democrat Party stifles new candidates from getting involved; they like it that way. It's out with the old and in with the new.... The grassroots community overwhelmingly support Don Wiesehan for County Commissioner. Be sure to vote during the Primary to make an effective change in the Kosciusko County government. Photos Provided Posted Thursday, April 16, 2026 9:27 pm By David Slone, Managing Editor One of the few contested May primary races is for Southern District County Commissioner, currently held by Republican Robert “Bob” Conley. He is facing challenger Don Wiesehan in the Republican primary. The two candidates were asked to respond to three questions, with responses limited to 300 words or less. Below are the questions and their answers (alphabetically by last name). 1. What is the biggest impact that Senate Enrolled Act 1 will have on the county? What's the best way for the county to address that impact? Conley: The best way to address what is best for our county is to keep on keeping on stay the course. We have been so blessed to have good right thinking mature people as elected officials and employees who keep abreast of what is needed to make and keep our county fiscally responsible. We are in the best position fiscally because of their dedication to our residents. It is said that it is good policy to keep as a balance six months of money in case of a downturn in the economy; we currently are at 18 months. We have a fudiciary responsibility to you the taxpayers and the commissioners as well as the county council take this very seriously. My motto is “if it ain’t broke … don’t try to fix it.” Wiesehan: Senate Bill 1 is, in many ways, a double‑edged sword. While I appreciate and welcome property tax relief, I cannot give a guaranteed opinion on how this will affect our county in the long term. One concern that has been raised publicly is that county governments could face challenges once they lose a portion of their property tax revenue. The most responsible step we can take right now is to avoid unnecessary or unplanned spending and stay firmly within our budgets. Some areas of county government do experience unexpected or unavoidable expenses, but outside of those situations, we will need to be disciplined until we understand the bill’s immediate effects. I won’t pretend to have answers I don’t yet have, but I can promise I will continue researching this issue, so I can make informed decisions. People have legitimate concerns about potential tax increases in the future, and I am committed to avoiding those options. We have to prevent additional burdens on families within our community. There are services that must remain prioritized; schools and emergency services must stay at the top of that list. Supporting our youth and their future is vital, and some have expressed concerns that this bill could affect school funding. I do not want to see the classrooms of our youth hindered because of this legislation. I’ve seen that several counties across the state are already planning to raise property taxes to offset the revenue they expect to lose. I do not want to resort to that. I do not believe we are at that point, and I do not think it should be considered until we have much more information about the actual impact. My goal is to protect the county from unnecessary tax increases with a careful approach rather than reacting too quickly. 2. While you're running for southern district county commissioner in the Republican May primary, if elected in the May primary and November general election, you'll be making decisions on what's best for all county residents. How will you make those decisions for all county residents? Conley: Best practices; there are certain standards and norms that need to be followed, go with what got you there, the decisions that I have made along with my fellow commissioners have been proven to work, and work well, thus the working relationship with our council, and most of all listening to the citizens, the data center is a prime example as well as the legislation on wind turbins. The public asked that we listen and we did. I went to numerous community meetings and the people spoke and I listened. We voted these two down (turbins as well as data centers). My phone number, email and barbershop is always available as well as our biweekly meetings. Wiesehan: It is important to know that I am running for the Southern Commissioner since that is the district I live in, but all county residents no matter their locations vote for all of the commissioners. I will represent all county residents in the decisions I make. I want to see improved transparency and communication with the people of the county. My priority is to stay accessible and connected to all county residents, no matter their location. Their voices will guide my decisions, and I will continuously be working closely with the residents to ensure the decisions made best reflect our community’s needs and wants. I believe if someone reaches out, whether it be a phone call or an email, it is my absolute responsibility to respond to them right away. As an elected official, we cannot forget who we are supposed to be representing and working for. I currently have a Facebook page dedicated to my campaign. If elected, I will keep that page up to have an added line of communication to share important information with the public along with posting updates, reminders about upcoming county meetings, and links to the meeting videos for anyone who can’t attend in person. Clear and accessible ways of communication is something our community deserves. Along those lines, I also think the residents of the county deserve to have the meeting schedule for the County Commissioners changed. Right now, they meet twice a month at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays. I know that time doesn’t work for a lot of people, especially those who work during the day. The residents deserve to have at least one of the monthly meetings moved to the evening, maybe 6 p.m. That way we are giving more residents the opportunity to attend and participate. 3. The county is determining whether to build a parking garage, with $5 million of the project cost coming from OIRI funds, a portion from the city of Warsaw and the remainder from county funds. Do you support the parking garage project, why or why not? Conley: I am committed to doing what is best for the residents of this county as I have in the past and with your vote of confidence in the future with the help of our Lord and Savior guiding us. Wiesehan: The proposed parking garage does not represent a responsible or well‑timed investment for our community. The financial burden placed on the taxpayers of the county is not justified by the projected return on investment. I cannot support the current $15 million project. A project of this scale, placed outside the immediate downtown core, raises real concerns about whether it can deliver the impact being promised. I am concerned that the location and year‑round upkeep of the structure may not have been fully considered. During the winter, snow and ice will likely make the top level unusable, reducing overall capacity. In addition, I don’t believe many residents will choose to use the parking garage in harsh winter conditions due to the cold, the walking distance, and the increased risk of slips and injuries on icy sidewalks. These factors could significantly limit the garage’s usefulness during a large portion of the year. Our focus should be to prioritize our existing infrastructure needs. Several facilities and structural assets owned by the county already require attention and repair. Addressing those issues first is a more fiscally sound approach for the county. I want to make sure I am doing everything I can to save the county taxpayers money, and it will be an ongoing effort but with no guarantees from the city on how much they will put toward the project, it is not a wise decision to take on that burden currently. Even if the city were to put up a very large portion of money toward the project, I don’t think that best represents what the majority of residents that live within the city limits want. Transparency and fiscal spending for taxpayers remains a concern in this decision, and the residents will ultimately bare much of the financial responsibility for the project. @LGMicahBeckwith @MicahBeckwith @GovBraun @spindlenutt @Jim_Banks @INGOP @IndianaGOPWomen @KosChamber @KCSDnews @KosciuskoSO @gotoKCCF @KYLE_Mattern44 @PowellforIN @IndianaYRs @PaulaCopenhaver @sarahofindiana @ScottPresler
