I love my salt lamp -- it produces electricity through the burning of coal, and through this process, sulfur oxide (SOx) is emitted into the environment. This primary pollutant can produce acid rain, and that can be very dangerous to public health. @franklinlorax #apesair

when i’m not actively using it, i make sure to unplug my phone charger to not use up energy and watts. though savings are minimal, i’m still doing my part to help reduce my carbon footprint 📲 #apesenergy @franklinlorax

I have a desk lamp and on the bottom, you can see all of its details -- you can read that it uses 4.5 watts. Watts is a unit of energy, and light energy emitted through the lightbulb (kinetic energy) is derived from coal (as potential energy). @franklinlorax #apesenergy

wind energy is a unlimited renewable resource that exists due to the earth spinning & unequal heating of the planet surface. i spotted some wind turbines in the image below! negatives, however, include being a blight, noise pollution, & killing birds @franklinlorax #apesenergy

The car I drive is a Toyota Hylander. This vehicle is a hybrid. This means that it is better for the environment! Though this car isn’t electric, it still makes a positive difference:) @franklinlorax #apesenergy

@AS511195apes @franklinlorax Daylight is extremely powerful in conserving energy -- moreover, if we design our future houses with intentional window placement so that the sun's UV rays radiate light into our houses effectively, we could heat our houses during the winters too (using less energy)!

This is my car that runs only on regular unleaded gasoline (Petrol). There are alternative vehicles that are better for the environment like hybrid cars that use gasoline and the battery, or electric cars, but these can be more inconvenient to fill up. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

I use a lot of energy by turning on my fan at night, so I do my best to make up for it by keeping my light off during the day. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

@EZ507743apes @franklinlorax I also have a fan in my room I keep in my room (except I mostly keep it on during the summer to stay cool). Keeping a fan on for long periods of time can be costly per year, depending on the fan's wattage and the city's kilowatt per hour.

Here is my (dying) plant that I keep in my room. If you look closely, you canseetheorganic material in the soil. Humus is organic material (once-living) and breaks down into soil, which can include roots and sticks. The humus also provides a rustic look. #apesland @franklinlorax

My family cut down the trees that had been there for 40 years. We planted these new trees, which is an example of sustainable growth. We will then be able to cut the these trees down in 40 years. #apesland @franklinlorax

@andreaAPES @franklinlorax These types of plants are very similar to cacti, which are known for their ability to hold moisture -- desert biomes allot great conditions for these types of plants. furthermore, aloe vera juice has skin-healing benefits...different plants have different uses.

succulents and aloe plants require their soil texture to be sandy loam for them to fully grow. they do best in dessert climates, so they are not naturally found in wisconsin’s forests! #apesland @franklinlorax

@EZ507743apes @franklinlorax Franklin in its suburban housing structure allows people to live their lives in their own separate, individual spheres, but as you mention, has damaging effects. It's important that future generations map out neighborhoods with intention and precaution -- urban planning is key!!

My neighborhood contains low density housing, which wastes more land than high density housing. In order to keep land for future generations, high density is more effective for saving space. #apesland @franklinlorax

These 2 lovely plants are grouped together when it comes to soil! :) Both do not like standing water so permeable soil is best. We treat both plants with a bit of miracle growth as well (a 15-30-15 fertilizer) #apesland @franklinlorax

Suburbs like Franklin are a product of urban sprawl. People from rural areas want to be close to cities for many reasons, mainly for more job opportunities, but urban sprawl has many adverse environmental impacts. @franklinlorax #apesland

@JayceeNirschl @franklinlorax Some ways you can use less electricity is turning your lights off whenever you leave a room and unplugging unused electronics. The first step of making meaningful change is by recognizing your own impact -- I'm happy that you are considering how you can lessen your footprint!

If everyone lived like me we would use 4.8 Earths worth of resources. Knowing that we only have one Earths worth of resources I need to make some changes. I have decided that I am going to try to carpool more and try to use less electricity! @franklinlorax #apespop
