The layer of the atmosphere where we live is called the troposphere. This layer is responsible for the weather that we experience in Wisconsin such as rain, snow, and thunder. The next layer up would be the stratosphere where good ozone is found! @franklinlorax #apesair

My house is powered by coal which emits CO2 into the atmosphere. Other energy sources like wind and solar energy are cleaner for the environment. However, the problem with these energy sources is that they vary in availability and intensity. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

Transporting by bus is fueled with diesel fuel which comes from crude oil. Diesel fuel is more efficient and emits less carbon dioxide. As well, we are saving energy by traveling together! Go Sabers! @franklinlorax #apesenergy

The car I drive is a Toyota Hylander. This vehicle is a hybrid. This means that it is better for the environment! Though this car isn’t electric, it still makes a positive difference:) @franklinlorax #apesenergy

This is my car that runs only on regular unleaded gasoline (Petrol). There are alternative vehicles that are better for the environment like hybrid cars that use gasoline and the battery, or electric cars, but these can be more inconvenient to fill up. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

This is where my family grows a vegetable garden in the summer. Just like the radishes we grew in class, the soil here needs to have a specific amount of potassium, phosphates, nitrates as well as a specific pH in order to grow the vegetables we plant. @franklinlorax #apesland

This forest pictured is an example of an old-growth forest because the trees showed are over 100 years old based on their characteristics. This means that this forest has never been logged before and this shows good management! @franklinlorax #apesland

Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, our population is using masks in order to keep each other healthy. This has decreased death rates around the world to keep stable populations! @franklinlorax #apespop

An ecological footprint is the impact of a person/community on the environment, expressed as the amount of land needed for their use of natural resources. One way to reduce your footprint is to recycle. My family recycles to help save the Earth! @franklinlorax #apespopulation

It is important to be aware of the impacts our decisions can have on our ecological footprint. Something as easy as using a reusable water bottle instead of a plastic one reduces the amount of waste we produce while also reducing our ecological footprint. #apespop @franklinlorax

This salad is an example of a vegetarian meal. After learning how many resources I use through my ecological footprint, I pledged to have a vegetarian meal at least once a month. This change reduced my footprint by 1 earth, which is a big difference. 🌎 @franklinlorax #apespop

In the ecology unit, we learned all about the transfer of energy throughout the food chain. For instance, a grasshopper gets it's energy from a producer, just like I got my energy from this goldfish. @franklinlorax #apesecology
