US 1 : China 0 China declares that any shipping company using these terminals will be banned from Chinese ports. US 1 : China 5 All global (large) shipping companies using the Panama Canal cannot afford to lose access to Chinese ports. That would be a death sentence. Applying US methods is another way of successful “copying.”

We have an official update on the per-ship cost of the ill-conceived US Trump class 'battleships'. The lead ship the USS Defiant is expected to cost only $17 billion, according to extract from the Department of War's fiscal year 2028 budget. Following that, the US Navy will seek $13 billion for the second ship in fiscal year 2030, and then $11.5 billion for the third unit in fiscal year 2031. For comparison, a Ford class supercarrier costs around $13 to $15 billion. The latest Arleigh Burke destroyers are about $2 billion each, and the Virginia class Block 5 attack submarines are about $4 billion. So to afford one Trump battleship, you are only giving up one nuclear supercarrier, or roughly six Arleigh Burkes, or three nuclear attack submarines. Seems like a good deal... right?
