Every family able to return home in southern Lebanon and northern Israel is welcome news. But for thousands more, there is no home left to return to. Lasting security means first ending the fighting, and then comes the necessary work that requires rebuilding lives, protecting civilians, empowering the Lebanese Armed Forces, and sustaining diplomacy.

In 2022, a proposal to adopt the IHRA working definition of antisemitism came before the Knesset Plenum. I spoke against it then and I oppose it still.
IHRA does not define antisemitism as a form of racism. It defines it politically. Seven of its eleven examples concern Israel, and its purpose in practice is to silence legitimate criticism of Israel as a state and Zionism as a political ideology. Even Kenneth Stern, who drafted the definition, has warned it is being used this way.
Using antisemitism as a shield for Israel doesn't just smear honest critics. It weakens the real fight against antisemitism and makes Jews around the world less safe.
To confront the rising tide of antisemitism worldwide, we have to treat it as the vile racism it is, not as another tool in the Israeli government's foreign relations toolkit.
