This is so accurate, so longstanding, & touches every field, domestic as well as foreign policy. I've sometimes thought Israel doesn't believe in its own existential future, it's so unwilling to plan for it.

בין אלה שנפגעו אתמול מידי השוטרים בהפגנה בכיכר הבימה הייתה גם קולט אביטל, שגרירה וח"כ לשעבר, יושבת ראש מרכז הארגונים של ניצולי השואה בישראל, אישה אצילית ויפה בת 86. היא הוטחה על הרצפה וקיבלה מכה חזקה בראש. אני מזועזעת עד עמקי נשמתי מהתקיפה שלה ועדיין מקווה שמישהו במשטרה יצלצל לקולט, יבקש את סליחתה ויעניש את מי שפעל כך נגדה. @IL_police בזמנו בכנסת עסקתי באלימות המשטרה שהייתה מופנית תמיד כלפי ערבים אזרחי ישראל, יוצאי רוסיה ואתיופיה. מעטים רצו לשמוע על כך, המקרים שעסקתי בהם נסגרו במח"ש מ"חוסר עניין לציבור". אבל אז המשטרה לפחות ניסתה להתנער מהתדמית האלימה. היום היא מעודדת על ידי הממשלה הכהניסטית ופוגעת במפגינות ומפגינים שלא הפרו שום חוק ולא פגעו באיש, בחדווה ובגאווה, ללא רחמים. על מנת ששוב נוכל לסמוך על המשטרה שלנו, נצטרך לפרק ולבנות מחדש, כמו גם מוסדות רבים במדינה שנרקבו והושחתו מהיסוד. החלמה מהירה לקולט, החלמה לחברה שלנו.
