After Westjet released the details of what was rejected Sunday, the cabin crew knew they’d lose the public’s support, holding out for more just looked like greed. They’d already rejected more than most of us are getting.

I have to admit when a very close family friend became a flight attendant with West Jet about 8 years ago, it was the first time I learned that cabin crew were only paid from wheels up to wheels down. No pay waiting around for late incoming aircraft, no pay for cabin prep, no pay for boarding, no pay for ground delays, no pay for de-boarding & clean up. It blew my mind that this was industry wide. A couple of airlines in the US changed that as did AC after a strike of their own, so when the cabin crews at West Jet finally had an opportunity to change their status, it was a no brainer that West Jet would have to join the rest of the airlines & pay these folks for all their work, not just their work in the air. That said, I’m starting to hear that the pre-strike offer by West Jet included a very similar funding formula for ground work that AC’s cabin crew got but CUPE rejected the offer & so a strike/lockout was on. I’m also hearing that the tentative agreement is not really any different than the original offer as it relates to ground work pay, so what was the point of screwing over the airline & its passengers for a couple of days? What was CUPE thinking?

Hundreds of international Indian students have been protesting in Calgary after IRCC refused their Post-Graduation Work Permit applications. Students say they enrolled before IRCC clarified their program was ineligible, while some earlier graduates were approved and others later refused.

In my opinion: you have the best Defense in the league (how about the addition of Malik Carney), you have the best RB in the league, your QB is an MOP candidate and your HC/OC/DC are humming. Next weekend you play the defending Grey cup champs (again) but this time at home. It’s time to comeback and restore the fanbase.
