@MarkFaulknerUK @SimonMagus To rejoint the SM without being inside the EU, the UK would need to rejoin EFTA first (which requires agreement from existing EFTA members) and then negotiate EEA participation (or a bespoke set of agreements). Just rejoining sounds easy but it isn't.

@SimonMagus I think trade deals are relatively unimportant. Losing so much autonomy by joining the Single Market while being outside would be a catastrophic error. Either go back in and join the euro or stay fully out. There is no sensible in-between.

@MartinSLewis I'm an ordinary chap who rents out three houses. I'm not "a landlord" or a business. Just someone who chose that route 25 years ago to provide for my old age. To me it's all mystifying and terrifying. The worst bit is being told to *buy* enormously complex software to do it.

Are you a sole trader or landlord with turnover above £50,000? There's a huge shake up about to happen to self-assessment which may affect you, called Making Tax Digital. It means you'll need to do a digital tax return four times a year! I don't normally cover small business issues but this needs awareness raising. I must admit, some of this is driven by nervousness from what I’ve heard. I know of accountants near retirement who have left the industry early as they don’t want to deal with the new scheme. @BORSON_ @LJRyder16 @DaleVince So you don't own a heat pump and have no experience of living with one. Thought so. Octopus energy have just written to me lowering our direct debit by 35%. Our heat pump was installed last August and the gas meter removed last September.

@RichardRs400 @LJRyder16 @DaleVince Experience, I have been in over 25k homes with multiple types of heating. Retrofitting does work but not in every case, I would recommend to anyone not on mains gas, but warn be prepared as they don’t often work perfectly on the 1st install & choose your installer carefully.
