@Mikehomeseller I love “Farewell”, but despite some People’s hatred of the 80s “synth era”, GUP is a legitimately great album. Dark, with a very bright, almost harsh production, it somehow suited the paranoia of those years. Neil’s lyrics matched the music, with an uneasy edginess.

@Mikehomeseller 7 or 8 on performance. it was basically a demo with Ed doinf all the work except lead guitar. All successive albums blew mir eag om performance because the band developed from this. Still, songwriting carried it beyond a 5. Ed is highly underrated as a songwriter.
