We’re backing a future we want to be a part of. Congratulations to @Jack_O_Meara and the entirety of the Aerska team on closing their Series A less than a year after closing their seed round, bringing total funding since launch to $60m. The round is co-led by @eqt Dementia Fund and @age1vc. Aerska is tackling one of the most challenging problems in medicine: getting targeted therapies into the brain. Their advanced brain shuttle technology enables systemically delivered RNA medicines to cross the blood brain barrier to treat neurological disease at the source. At BACKED, we believe recent advances in Transferrin Receptor technology combined with highly optimised RNAi payloads offer some of the most compelling potential therapies for complex diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntingdon’s disease. Jack and team Aerska have moved exceptionally fast since seed. @luciacerchlan led our second VC AI BACKathon at BACKED HQ in London. Investors, platform, ops, and data teams from 20 funds came together to design AI tools, workflows, automations, and blueprints — side by side. We had a lot of fun, but it was also genuinely useful. What stood out most was the openness. People shared real workflows, brainstormed automations, swapped blueprints, and were candid about what’s working and what still needs clarity. Once we mapped problems as a group, it became obvious that we’re all solving the same challenges — just quietly, and in parallel. Huge kudos to everyone who jumped in with demos and made it practical. We love seeing a more collaborative, technical, and builder-led version of VC take shape.
