17 Accused in Peel Police Extortion Network Investigation Were Not Canadian Citizens
Peel Regional Police say 17 men who are not Canadian citizens have been arrested in connection with an alleged international criminal network known as “For Brothers,” accused of targeting business owners and community members through extortion, threats and violence across Canada and the United States.
The investigation, led by Peel police’s Extortion Task Force, focused on what investigators describe as a coordinated campaign of intimidation involving shootings, arsons and financial demands directed at local businesses, including restaurants and trucking companies.
Police allege the group operated in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon and British Columbia, with connections extending into California.
The joint investigation began in December 2025 and involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Canadian Border Services Agency, the Ontario Provincial Police, the FBI and FINTRAC. Peel police also credited the Surrey Police Service and Edmonton Police Service for assisting in the case.
Investigators say the accused are connected to 24 incidents, including 16 violent attacks linked to the alleged For Brothers network. Police allege the incidents included multiple shootings and arsons, with a total of 324 rounds fired during the attacks.
In one case, investigators allege two suspects carried out a shooting and arson at a home in Caledon before allegedly targeting a business in Brampton in a second shooting minutes later.
Search warrants executed across several locations in April 2026 led to the arrests of 17 men, who collectively face 106 criminal charges.
Police also seized six firearms, illicit drugs, multiple cell phones, SIM cards and fraudulent identification documents during the investigation.
Authorities say six individuals charged by Peel police could face immigration consequences, including possible removal from Canada, once their criminal proceedings conclude. In a separate enforcement action, CBSA arrested and detained six individuals for alleged immigration inadmissibility. Police say three of those individuals have already been removed from Canada, two remain in custody and one was released on conditions by the Immigration and Refugee Board.
The force’s Extortion Task Force, made up of roughly 30 officers and analysts, has been investigating violent extortion-related crimes since 2023, including shootings, arsons, threats and financial demands targeting members of the community.
