All government, specially blue cities and states, push through specific taxes for some "cause" to get support (schools, roads, homeless, agents like this, etc.). Then they move all those taxes to slush funds, steal almost all of it, and the the "cause" eventually gets another funding ask as people forget the original intent (or it gets hidden like the specifics of the airfare taxes). I wonder if 50% or more of aggregate taxes isn't being stolen by all of these graft antics.
